Here's the idea, Bring sharpie markers. Catch as many Cicadas as you can and leave little messages on thier backs! Maybe you will be able to read a few as well!
Idunno... Aren't sharpies toxic? I don't need any sharpie-poisoned dead cicadas on my conscience. Unless you're planning on eating the ones you write on. Then I guess it's ok.
I wouldn't mind writing poems and quotes n stuff on the dead shells and leaving them in random places though. Maybe arrange them into patterns on the ground, or along the streets... It'd be like instant art...

I haven't looked at my sharpie b/c I don't plan on touching those creepy looking things in order to write on them since I'm very bugophobic but I definately think ya'll should be absolutely certain before you start writing on the cicadas w/ the sharpies that they are non-toxic. Maybe you should try using Crayola markers instead.
Just to put one point to rest, my Sharpies are labeled as Nontoxic, Conforms To ASTM D-4236, whatever that means. But still, nontoxic to us doesn't necessarily mean nontoxic to the cicadas.
