I'm just somewhat surprised that more shows haven't surfaced, given that I saw mics set up at EVERY set I went to from Friday on. My question is, as a first time roo-er...are they all going to surface? We only have a small fraction of them now, but they're all out somewhere. Is it common for a taper not to post a show online for some reason? Or were those stand-up mics for something else?

I'd just like to give a big THANK YOU to all the tapers that have put their stuff up. I've been spending the last few days reliving some of the shows I saw. Thanks for sharing the golden moments.

I'll echo this: not all the sets were taped. I was at plenty of shows in which I saw no mics (nearly everything in the jazz tent, Dr. Dog, Annuals, Ralph Stanley, just to name a few). And Mr. Bitch is right, not all tapers don't share what they record and not all tapers who do share like to do it over the Internet. With all of those conditions included you end up with a likely small percentage of shows that will appear on the sites we frequent.
I said it before 'roo, but I'll say it again for next year: if you see mics at a set you really want a copy of, it doesn't hurt to chat up the nice people doing the taping. Tell them thanks, ask them what they plan on doing with the recording, if they are going to post it anywhere, etc. That way you'll know where to look and when, and alternatively they may give you their email in which case you can set up a B&P (worked for me for a few rare shows from last year). That's the way to maximize your chances of getting a copy, or at least knowing what your chances are.

I think I saw a few set up for the Rob y Gab set but who knows. I know there was place where you could buy there set in Centeroo but I could never locate it in my own personal haze. I personally say thank you to everyone that does the recording of these sets, they are bringing back great memories and also making me very happy on the choices of sets that I did go and see in person.

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

I'm waiting patiently for the Damien Rice set
I have actually taken the video that is up and pulled the audio from it but I haven't had the time to "master" it. Also I don't know much about how to do that kinda stuff so I am experimenting with a bunch of different things. HOWEVER, when I do post it as a torrent in flac format I will let everyone here know.

I tried to save the video that was posted on Google but I couldn't figure out how. I will keep being patient

A very serious thank you out to all of you that put your time into it. Roo was a changing point in my life and to be able to relive even a slight moment for me is pure bliss! Thanks again!!!
For those who are interested in trying their hand in taping... You gotta get your hands on the Zoom H4. It has stereo condenser mics built into the top, and you have 2 XLR inputs at the bottom. This is what I use for my interviews (utilizing the XLRs)... When I used the built in stereo condenser to pick up ambient noise or to "tape," it sounded AMAZING.

The Lips set was posted late yesterday on the Traders Den site. Don't know how good it is - I'm still waiting for my ratio to pick up after I grabbed the vid of the Lips from the '03 roo
The H4 comes with a cradle that allows it to go up on a stand, and the mikes are surprisingly good. The recording of The Police that I shared on the mp3 list of shows was done on an H4 from the top of a camper in VIP camping. As I said in that thread, it's not the greatest as you would expect from something recorded from a campground 1/4 mile away!, but with that considered, as good as it is really is a testament to both the recorder and the stellar sound on the main stage.

I bet you could of recorded tool at high quality from the top of your camper. They were at least 3-5x louder than anything the police had (I know different music performers but just by volume wise).

I recorded Damien Rice's set but some a**hole person behind me kept talking the entire time. Then he asked me if i was recording and got really excited about it. He then continued to talk about when i would post it etc. so what i have is completely laden with all of that.

Has a David Cross recording surfaced yet? I remember seeing somewhere that one has. If not, I recorded one. It's shitty quality though. I'm not going to up it if there's another one out there of better quality.
