Well, I went, and as anybody reading this thread could have predicted it, I loved it. I was definitely disappointed in the just under an hour set length, but hopefully they do release an album and headline another tour.
Rather than reiterate my points once again I'll post some links. None were for the show I went to, but these were the only three I could find in the Yahoo News section.
One thing I didn't mention before though, is due to the fact that it isn't Layne singing most of the time, nobody had any reservations about singing along with the new guy. Usually at concerts I, and most respectful concert-goers, will hold back so people can hear what they came for, but this turned into a great communal experience with everybody singing along to the songs they love all the while knowing who should really be singing them, so it made the words hit home that much harder.
Fuck it, I will reiterate.
If you love Alice In Chains, go see them. But wait until they headline.
I love what I saw on stage last year, but no. Please no . DO NOT release an album under the AIC name. People can say whatever they want about the new singer, it's completely understandable. One thing that you cannot, however, argue upon is the fact that doing a new AIC album would kill whatever the name had left.
