Hopefully this is true, because I would like to hear a new album. Personally I didn't like Amputechture that much overall. My opinion the worst out of the three Mars Volta albums.

New album should be sweet. I love all 3 of their albums - but yeah I believe Amputechture was basically stuff/ideas/etc they had left over from the previous 2 albums.
Omar and Cedric certainly know what they are doing and I highly doubt they would not do something completly new and innovative or something similar to their previous albums.

I agree. You make it sound so dirty though. But yeah, that cracked me up. Highly looking forward to new music AND A FREAKING HEADLINING TOUR OF THE STATES. I'm so displeased that they didn't do a proper headlining tour for Amp. All those shows opening for other bands won't cut it anymore.

They would def. be a good one. I see someone like Battles, Clinic, These Arms Are Snakes, Brazil, or maybe some heavy more-instrumental jams like Pelican or Russian Circles. Or an evening with would be the bomb too.
