Meh, I'd move some things around, but overall not too bad.
My only quibble would be that lists like this need to be titled "Best 100 Rock Albums", because there are plenty of excellent jazz, classical, experimental, country, etc. albums that aren't being counted. They don't need to be, but it should be clear that they aren't.
Isn't Miranda Lambert country? I mean not that there is anything WRONG with that....
you know ... i got that record with my no depression subscription several months ago. and after 3 or 4 listens shes on my mock line up. its good. you should really give it a chance.
Have not grown to love The National like everyone seems to have. A bit too Brit Pop-ish for me it seems. My lady thinks they try and fail to have the dynamic that Arcade Fire has mastered.
Can someone give a quick description of Feist's sound. Similar to...? If you like blank, then try Feist ?, etc PLEASE !??!
Also-not so down with Modest Mouse's "ship" in the top ten....

Snoochie I'm with you on The National. I just cant get into that album. But I feel the same way about Arcade Fire's Funeral, though I love Neon Bible.
I would say that Feist is kind of a melodic pop. She reminds me of Cat Power and Emily Haines (though that might be because both were in Broken Social Scene) and maybe Regina Spektor.

I have a list of the top 89 albums of 2007 from a local NPR affiliated radio station called WNKU. It's on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. I noticed some were actually released in 2006, some are greatest hits, so I'm not sure but this seems like more of a list based on what albums were favorites that they played on the air. Great list, I'd like to see any of these bands at Bonnaroo in the future...

yea, i dont really understand how "boxer" could be considered the best cd of '07....
The best description of The National's music I've heard is "urban claustrophobia". One of my buddies often says that he's reminded of walking through an abandoned city at night while listening to that album, and to be quite honest, I think that description fits perfectly. There's something so distinctly city about it, and the music is so well-layered. Plus, Berninger's vocals are phenomenal and unique, which sets them apart. It seems to be more poetry than lyrics. I hate putting the distinction of "#1 album of the year" on any album, because there will always be naysayers, but Boxer is easily one of my most played albums of the year and one that I'll come back to for years to come.
EDIT: Oh, and I have to thank Paste for at least giving Josh Ritter his due credit, unlike seemingly everyone else this year. Unsung musical genius for sure.
