Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Bonnaroo will have a Family Camping area in 2007! This area will be fenced in to help ensure the security and privacy of the families. It will only be accessible to families and children, and will be located relatively close to Centeroo.
Port-o-pots will be located here for the families to use as well. Please keep in mind that this area is intended only for the families to use. It is NOT fun when you try to take your child to the port-o-john, only to find it whizzed all over. If we police ourselves, it will be easier to keep the potties clean. If you see someone coming in from outside family camp, remind them that those toilets are intended for children, and that we are trying to keep them as clean as possible.
There may or may not be special bracelets for this area, details pending on that one. Either way, it will be a much closer and specialized area for families to enjoy together. Kidz Jam II will be operating in this area, with the larger version remaining in the middle of Centeroo.
Thanks so much to everyone who made suggestions to the Bonnaroo staff about putting together a family area. We will be glad to see that the kids won't be making such a long walk to Centeroo this year.
Can anyone tell me the pros cons of family camp vs. VIP camping? I've never been to Bonarro before so bought VIP tickets hoping for closer camping, showers, and hopefully accress to some lounge tents for shade. I didn't know about the family camping. Can anyone advise? Will the family camping actually be better?....and cheeper? I'm bringing my 11 month old.
wow that's awesome. that is something that has been sorely lacking in the past. I was just thinking the other day I would like to take my kids to Roo maybe next year, but 2500 for the 4 of us in VIP is steep steep steep.

this is a new addition, never happenned at Roo before so no one is going to be able to tell you that. But, since you have VIP, it is a very family-friendly camp, you will not be disappointed. Plus there is an A/C lounge where you can chill with the babe. I would be excited just to have VIP!! VIP at Roo is awesome!!
Do you have any idea what the camping set up will be...car, tent, possibly RV? Would love to know...I've just got to find a way to convince hubby to go to the roo!
I will look into this and get right back with you. i know that the area will be fenced in, so that may affect the possibility of RV's getting in there. Again, let me make sure and get back to you on that.
Wow thats great news. This will be our 2nd year at the Roo(2005 was first) with our now 4yo daughter. We've been to many festivals with her and having a family area makes such a big difference in our experience. Not that it's actually quiet or really that much different in many ways, but there does seem to be much stronger community vibe where there is a designated area...and more bubbles.
I would also love to know more specfic's about who is "allowed" in the family area, how to make sure you can get there upon arrival, and any info on RV's as well. We don't have an RV (well it's a VW) but our travellin partners (also a family with small kids) do. They bought the RV pass and the Companion pass for us so we could stick together but how wonderful would it be to have it all!
I've been to some festivals where the family areas were strickly enforced (at least upon arrival) or others where it was a general idea, but nothing more than a sign or two. Any idea of which side the fence the Roo's Family area will be?
I am so excited to hear about the family camping, we are coming with our 2 and a 1/2 year and 8 month old kids. should i continue to check here for more info on how to get in into family camping, like when to arrive and what entrance to go to? this is great!
As far as I know, you will be coming in the usual way through the ticket booths and if you have kids in the car you will be directed toward the family camp. Again, I'm not sure on what the exact logistics will be about entry, but in our past experience, this has been the case. Be sure to tell everyone on the way that you are to be directed to the family camp because the next guy down the road may not know you have kids in the car or where you want to go.
On when to arrive...the family camping are is limited, so try to get there at a decent time. No spots are guranteed, it's a first-come first-serve basis.
Please note that the family camping area is reserved for families only (Families with children 16 and under). We ask that all campers in this area respect the family atmosphere by acting in a child friendly manner and by keeping noise levels to a minimum after dark. Access into the Family Camping area will not be controlled, but there will be security personnel located at at nearby POD 7 should you have any issues that require assistance.
The Family Camping area will be identified on the maps you will receive as you are processed through the tollbooths. You will also be given a family area marking on your vehicle to show parking staff and law enforcement. The best way to get to Family Camping is to enter the site from the west either at Exit 112 from I-24 or from Bushy Branch West. You may be directed by the police to Bushy Branch East. If that happens, get the family camping marking, and then you may be re-directed to Bushy Branch West depending on traffic conditions. There will be signs directing you to the Family Camping Area. Parking staff will also direct you to those areas.
Any vehicle who does not have a Family Camping marking will NOT be allowed to park or camp in the family camping area - Even if you are a relative! Also, please note that space in the Family Camping area is limited, and spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis."
Can anyone tell me if RV's are allowed in Family Camping? I'm guessing no but that would be really cool as lots of family's i know that go to festivals feel that without the RV it would not be possible.
Q: Will there be a quiet camping area for families and such?
A: This year, in response to your requests, we will be providing a Family Camping Area on-site. We want Bonnaroo to be a place for people of all ages, and hope that providing a special area for parents and their small children will create a better festival experience for all. The family camping areas will feature some limited amenities for young children. There will be a sandbox, and a tent manned by KidzJam, which will offer some fun activities for kids.

(This doesn't exactly detail whether or not there will be RV parking the the FamCamp area, but I am guessing that they will be allowed because lots of families use RVs when bringing the kids.)
I did finally receive a reply from info@bonnaroo and thought I would post it. Can't wait!!! ;D
Hi G,
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo! Your car does not need the companion pass (as your pop up camper is attached). You and your party are welcome to park in the family camping area, provided there is room! All camping will be first come first served. See you there!
