ugh Kanye West is one performer I hope NEVER plays Roo. He's a jackass.
Watch this rant of his at Euro-MTV video awards. He loses the category he was nominated for to JUSTICE who is very much in the styel of Daft Punk. So while Justice is accepting the award, Kanye proceeds to go on stage and act a fool.
So what does he do next? He remixes a Daft Punk track and makes a video for it. Total sell out. He only made that video to win an award.
^^Yeah, I liked Kanye's first two albums, but what I've heard off the new one sound like he's lost in "Cocaine Kanye Land". That Daft Punk sample on the first single is Diddy-esque.

I live in Chicago so I had the chance to see them at Lolla. They do put on one heck of a show, but for me the music just doesn't cut it. There's obviously many people who enjoy them, so on this I might be in the minority. I'm just not into that electronic stuff.

They were incredible at Lolla. It just gave me that tremendous warm feeling of community. Everyone was dancing, the light show was out of this world...it was just... wow. They are a must for Bonnaroo late night Which Stage (preferably Friday so you're not too tired to dance). I just can't say enough about how impressed I was by these guys.
they were off the charts in brooklyn last night too
my only hesitation with signing the petition for a 'roo late night is that i see their lolla timeslot was 1.5hrs and the brooklyn show last night was only 1.5 as well, and i can't see giving them a prime-time late night slot unless they can fill at least 3 hours of time.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

girl talk only played about an hour but he doesnt command the presence like daft punk, but they could have some late night djs after they play. it would leave you time to catch other acts to. Bring on the daft punk.

They may have only played 1.5 hours when I saw them in Toronto, but my ass was soaking wet from sweat when those 1.5 hours were over. NEVER have I danced my ass off that much!
Shorter late nights makes for easier decissions on my end. This years 'roo for example: I had a chance to see an awesome show like The Flaming Lips, still head over and catch about an hour or so of Mule, and then dance till the morning light with Sasha and Digweed.
Having only long late nights leads me to only being able to see one show (I usually stay till the end of shows), and a very little of another if I'm lucky.
I really really really dislike Daft Punk, but some of my friends like them, and plus people love them. So I guess I don't really care, they'd fit well, late night, I just won't be watching it.
^^^No, Superfly is just insinuating that they're retiring the Pyramid Show, which is, in large part, the reason why Daft Punk is considered a great act again. Daft Punk = Jamiroquai in terms of relevance before they blew the lid off of Coachella in 2006.

I disagree. Daft Punk accomplished a lot in regards to the popularity of House, and dance's current acculturation with rock and indie rock. And "Homework" is a modern classic. Jamiroquai are little more than retro electro-rockers.
For anyone who hasn't seen daft punk's coachella performance from last year I suggest you watch it. I wasnt there but this makes me want to see them anywhere. The Sahara Tent kicks incredible ass. THey dont even turn on the pyamid lights until they are 30 minutes into the set. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1354792744516813690&q=daft+punk+coachella&total=464&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 And I still am so mad at myself for seeing Girl Talk over Justice at Coachella this year. I didnt know about Justice until after the festival. Major Oops. And I left Aracde Fire early to see Girl Talk. Girl Talk was way funner at Coachella cuz anyone could get on stage if they wanted. Speaking of Which Justices intro at Coachella this year. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5923903690104298868&hl=en And Girl Talks intro video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6858964189907243347&hl=en I wouldnt mind seeing underworld, but would rather see the other two. Oh yeah, I consider both festivals about equal, coachella is cleaner but less freedom and more expensive. Bonnaroo = Anything goes for a good value.

I like both bands, but if you stack up actual discography's, Jamiroquai > Daft Punk. Daft Punk wrote a great album and recycled it a couple times. Jamiroquai's sound has sort of expanded over the years. And their more electro-funk than electro-rockers.
Splitting hairs hear, but I feel like you're underrating Jamiroquai and overrating Daft Punk. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Daft Punk, but they're pretty much the best gimmick band out there. Their one note is really fun, but it's still just one note.

I would enjoy Daft Punk. I wouldn't want to replace DJ Shadow with Daft Punk, but if both could exist at Roo that would be great
that's how i feel! I love DJ Shadow, so I would mos def want him to be there too.. but they had Girl Talk at Roo this past year and weren't they techno-like? I'm not sure.. but roo is big enough for some groove beats from everyone!

i hope shadow comes back to roo, but next time alongside some other dj...perhaps cut chemist, z-trip, numark...shadow in any combination is bound to make a hell of a show.
