Haha. Look at sangreal, fighting the good fight against unreasonable hippies way back in '07. Say what you want about this year's lineup, but I'm pretty thankful that those types no longer make up the majority of the festival attendees.

I would go see gwar (i like metal, but not gwar, im just interested in their theatrics) but i cant imagine choosing gwar over deadmau5 and disco biscuits, its just not gonna happen.
Late night Gwar and rinsing off with the band in the fountain after their set was one of my funnest Bonnaroo experiences of any year. Where else can you see Margaret Cho perform sex acts on a giant alien dildo?
I'm going to have to say hell no to Gwar, Korn, etc. Those bands belong somewhere else....possibly hockey/ basket ball arenas or Coachella.
I know I'm not one to say who should and shouldn't be at 'Roo, but it seems like there is a positive vibe that comes from the art, crowd, and good music. I for one think that artists like Gwar would go to Bonnaroo simply because they got booked there, not because they feel welcomed and proud to have the opportunity to play in front of an audience that are troo music fans. I honestly think they would just do stuff for shock value rather than the love of music.
you obviously did not see gwar in 2010.
the band addressed why they played - it was because bonnaroo was the only festival that offered. the show was amazing, honestly, one of the highlights of the weekend. the band was totally into the show and even went so far as having a late night "bit" where they washed themselves in the fountain (which then lit up red) as they turned the water into blood.
how does that compare to say, iron and wine? obviously a bit different. but at 2 am, that show was insane and amazing for anyone that wasnt looking for untz.
EDIT: just realized this thread is like, 5 years old. how the fuck is this thing still active?
