So what do you guys think? I am a huge, I mean HUGE fan of Rush. While they don't festivals that much, I think that they could be a good fit at Bonnaroo. Plus there have been rumors that they may do a music festival in 2008.
ya, not sure about their affiliation with festies, but as far as headliner material and the previous headliners... rush fits the bill. they put on a killer show too!
I said yes. I too love Rush. I saw them about ten times back in the peak of their popularity. They are excellent live, although their shows are very much preplanned. Much like Tool.
I missed seeing Rush this year because when they were in Tampa. I was at Bonnaroo
I read a couple of Neil Peart's books. It turns out he is friends with Mickey Hart. It was interesting to read about them going to each other's shows and talking about their bands very different approaches to music and performance.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

Just my opinion, but Geddy Lee's voice=nails on a chalkboard and Neil Pert's drumming has all of the emotion of a Commodore 64... wow, somebody actually came up with a headlining band that would actually find me hanging at camp till Midnight... no, I'd still see'em... see everyone once, my lifelong mantra... and, if they were there, a lot of other people would be happy i guess, so sure, bookem' if you must
(Since there's no maybe type option, I will abstain from actually placing a vote)

Like Lordrockinhood, I'd see anyone once, but I hate these guys, so I voted no, I don't want them there. I hope they're not there, but if they are, I'll check them out.

speaking of HUGE Rush fans, this would guarantee Les playing at roo!!!!!!
i would go see it. not sure if id make it through the whole show. but who knows. maybe they would blow me away. i like rush i just wonder how awe inspiring their show is.
and as for les who woulda though hed miss a bonnaroo that had ween and the flaming lips? i think its possible les is walking away from roo. thats the only explanation i can think of for his absence this year.

I guess I gotta hear him live to determine that. Technically, I may agree, but I just can't find the emotion in the records. Keith Moon on the other hand... (god rest his restless soul)

Yeah, he's one of the best I've ever heard when it comes to technical prowess. And if they would play Roo, I think you would hear the emotion. I agree that the recordings are rather dry.
I will agree that Neil's stuff sounds dry on records(albeit still amazing), if you ever hear him do his drum solos in concert, you will be amazed. Trust me on that.
I just don't see that happening. He is very anal about his musicianship. I believe the thought of climbing on stage and jamming with musicians he's not real familiar with would cause him great distress.

i dont think hes to anal about his musicainship he plays in the aqua teen hunger force movie if hes willing to do that then im pretty sure he would give superjam a chance

yep...I have seen Rush twice....and ST many more. Neil was not playing for 4 (has been as long as 8) hours..while doing the timing stuff that ST dude does on a constant basis during shows....
a few much rehearsed and played crescendoes does not make an exceptional drummer. This is only an opinion.
id have more respect for him if he mixed his music up a bit, in other words
