Oasis has a new album coming out and will be touring next summer. I love some of their older stuff, but I'm not sure I'd rush to see them play. Thoughts?
I find that I like bands where I would enjoy the people in those bands. As examples I give you Phish and say... somebody like Keller Williams. These seem, to me, to be personalities that I can relate to (being giant badass goofballs). On the other hand no matter how musically impressive Tool is I will probably never be a huge Tool fan because, well... Maynard is a d*ck. An incredibly gifted musician with important things to say but still a d*ck.
Oasis consists of *ssholes with an over inflated sense of themselves, so... no
I have mixed feelings about them. They had some good songs awhile back, but nothing that I'm aware of recently. Plus they are incredibly arrogant. I'd probably check them out if nothing better was happening, but they wouldn't be the reason I came to Tennessee.
I think that they would be interesting to see for several reasons....not the least of which is the whole personality issue. They are one of the most volitale bands around....sibiling rivalry at it's best/worst! It really cut them short of any potential they had as a band and personally I think they had a LOT of potential.....but they just couldn't get past the egos and the "I'm the reason" , "No, I'm the reason" ,shit,....shame really.
Good song writers, good musicians, bit repetitive but when they do break out of the mold they do it in a grand way......I'd be willing to skip a lot of other acts to see what they could put out.....
You've gotta be kidding me, right? I never cared for their music, and then when they came out and said with all honesty that they were the next Beatles?!?
I don't think you get to declare yourself the next anything. If you do, you better bring it, and (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) they don't.

You took the words right out of my mouth, bigjohn.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I always say I'd go see anything... this one does kind've straddle the line however. I've never heard a song I really liked (though I have heard a few that got stuck in my head for loooong periods of time) but yeah, if there wasn't a conflict, sure, I'd go see what they have to offer the Bonnaroo crowd... I'll see anyone in rock and roll once
I actually really like some of their music, but I never kept up with them because they always seemed like such pompous a$$holes. The Coachella movie really confirmed that. I wish I could remember something specific that he (I don't remember which one it was talking. . .or maybe the both did; it's been awhile since I saw it) said, but I remember coming away from it knowing that I would never have any interest in listening to them ever again.

yeah, I can't understand why a band that has some really awesome mellow songs are always in the outs with eachother.. i think Noel and Liam would end up duking it out a Roo
