if your just going to be there early thursday morning then there will be tons of people swarming around in manchester camping along the highway staying in hotels.. that whole week people start to come in swarms.. so you could probably just hitch a ride with someone when you get dropped of in manchester .. but to answer your question.. yes you can just walk in .. i did it the first year... just have your ticket ready

Better question....I have 3 buses i could arive on...one ar 11 pm Wed ,3 am and 9 am thurs. I heard the gates open early on Wed. How long are they open till befor they shut them for the night or are they open all night? I am planning according to when I can get it.

The Tennessee dept of Trasportation will force them to open the gates weds night because it is right off the interstate and all the cars will block traffic. Look for the gates to open around 9 or 10 weds night.
