John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I say no and he was never really good in the first place.
Really? Everybody is entitled to thier own opinion but, really?
Yeah. Nothing against anyone else who likes him, but I just don't think he was ever that talented. I never saw a lot of creativity and diversity in his music.

Nah, not a headliner, but a pre-headliner, sure! And I wouldn't be so quick to throw him out. He's good live-- got an excellent band--, and he certainly fits the "rock legend" category that Bonnaroo loves.

I don't care if your favorite CD is "Greatest Hits of the Elevator" or the Beatles Abbey Road, or Mozart or the Wiggles or Garth fuc*king Brooks or whatever... people who think they have the right to imply that there is something wrong with you because you like something they don't, they are the ones with the true negative karma, and they are all doomed carry it around chained to their soul everywhere they go for life, or at least until they figure out why we in this country value and treasure our freedom of choice and individuality above all else.
I'm sorry, didn't mean to rant, but this whole smiting cause I'm not like you thing is fuc*ing ridiculous and makes me really fuc*ing mad
My Mom likes Celine Dion, my siblings' families are all hooked on American Idol... do these things make me proud? Not quite, but I would never in a million years even consider a smite... the very idea makes me sick
Now I would not even smite her, question her sanity a bit, but never smite. We need a thread where we can admit to our guilty music pleasures. Things we do not want anyone to know. We could post to it anonymously, so that we would not have to fear being smited. ;D

At the same time, you should never assume why you got smitten. I just got smitten (?!), and have no idea what I might have said to offend someone, which is always the worst part-- I can't right my wrongs.
I say yeah to Paul Simon on sentimental reasons....he was one of my first records given to me by my favorite Aunt Shelia..."Love Me Like A Rock" when I was like 4 or 5 if I remember....
But the smiting thing Give me a break. I have gotten smitten a lot lately for...who knows what? ??? Yeah, I have opinions...so does everyone....it doesn't bother me a lick but come on people...if you smite me because I offend you at least have the class to tell me what you were offended by....I would do the same. To me, that's what these boards are for - the friendly exchange of opinions! It doesn't hurt my feelings to be smited...I'd just appreciated knowing what the "hell" for.....
