ive loved them for a while cuz i was super "involved " in the 'rave' scene in the late 90s-01 and saw them a few times back then....
Exactly, but.... At a "rave" in '95 they left me absolutely slack-jawed for weeks. At a party in '97 they blew me away again. At Echo they seemed to still be doing the exact same thing as they were a decade ago. I'm all about continuity and whatnot but, that's a little ridiculous. Yeah. It was, without a doubt, a great show but, it could've too easily been a taped performance from the mid 90's or something. I think that when it comes to RITM, the magic is gone. Monk left and they appear to be contently stuck on 'pause' now.
If you haven't seen them live yet, you definitely should. It WILL be an incredible experience that will be burnt into your memory forever. After that, however, their shows become extremely formulaic.
Don't get me wrong, I dig them very much. I just think that they REALLY need to tweak/restructure/reinvent/refresh their live shows.
I'm voting 'yes' on this one because they would blow away the vast majority of people at Roo. (especially if it's your first time seeing them)
