i love jason. every since i heard spacemen 3 i was caught. sonic lost me years ago but the sounds of j have kept me around. i recently got to see him (them) at the acoustic mainline show in nyc at the apollo (which is another story to its self). i honestly believe this band would own a late night slot on the which stage. i had forgotten that they played the h.o.r.d.e. tour years ago because no one at the record label knew how to market them. but i cant remember what year that was. (spacemen 3's motto was taking drukqs to make music to take drukqs to)

Definately. Late night might be cool, but I see it more of a daytime thing... chillin' on the grass (if there is any ), watching the clouds float by.......

Yeah... but it's not really that likely, is it?
Y'all ever heard J Spaceman's work on the Spring Heel Jack albums from Thirsty Ear? I particularly love their "Live" album with Matthew Shipp, William Parker, Evan Parker and Han Bennink.
honestly i was always kind of shocked they ended up on the h.o.r.d.e tour. stranger things have happened.
oh yeah. steve i havent heard that stuff. id love to hear it, shipp is amazing, as is william parker. point me in the right direction. and i keep hearing the new record is comming out in the states on fat possum. you know ... fat possum always have one band representin at bonnaroo.

I was just looking through Fat Possum's artists, and it really made me wish Townes Van Zandt was till with us... and that Andrew Bird would come back next year.
J Spaceman actually only performs on one of SHJ's Thirsty Ear albums, their "Live" one, which I mentioned before. It's two extended (over a half hour each) live improvisations wherein Ashley and John of SHJ create ambient electronic soundscapes which the non-electronic musicians use as a platform to improvise and interact. It's really some stunning work for all involved. Let me know if you need help finding a copy!
