Wow... they're ugly. Jersey is supposed to have them too, but I have yet to see or hear any of them. They're out every summer here but you never SEE them. This is going to be an interesting trip...
thats some crazy shit.....red eyes are a bit different..lol I bet they do cause a few bad trips. My woman works at a hotel here in central IL. and evertime they make it this way she gets millions of ppl staying at the hotel completly freaked out. it's halarious... ;D

I am Teenage Mutant Ninja Cicada.....is that good? I liked Cap-n-tripps idea about Cicada Space during the DEAD...I would whip out my nun chucks for that!
I saw five of them walking to the Dart store yesterday. one was coming out of his shell. I can't wait till more are out and I can load up someones car with them.

I am not planning to cook with them or eat them if I can help it! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the little cylindrical tunnels that apparently harken their arrival w/in 2-3 days, but I have seen none .. nor any full-fledged cicada ... yet.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A man who cooked and ate nearly 30 cicadas sought medical treatment after suffering a strong allergic reaction to the sauteed insects.
The man showed up at a Bloomington clinic Thursday covered from head-to-toe in hives, and sheepishly told a doctor he'd caught and ate the cicadas after sauteing them in butter with crushed garlic and basil.
"He said they didn't taste too bad, but his wife didn't care for the aroma," said Dr. Al Ripani, the doctor who treated the man at Promptcare East.
The man, who has a history of asthma and shellfish allergies, suffered a "significant allergic reaction," after eating the cicadas, Ripani said.
He said he gave the man antihistamines, steroids and a shot of adrenaline, then observed him for two hours before sending him home.
After living underground for 17 years and feeding on tree roots, the so-called Brood X cicadas are emerging by the billions across the Eastern U.S.
Ripani said recent newspaper articles extolling the tastiness of cicada cuisine should have warned people that dining on the bugs can be dangerous for some people.
"Severe food allergies such as this can be fatal," he said. "I feel that needs to be stressed in these articles."
He said the University of Maryland's department of entomology's Cicada-licious cookbook, which includes recipes for Cicada Stir-Fry and Cicada Dumplings, contains a disclaimer urging people to consult a doctor before eating cicadas.
"We ask that you please take special caution if you have other food allergies, such as soy, nuts or shellfish, or if you know of any contact allergies that you may have to other insects," it states.
OK..so the moral of the story is "Don't eat fried cockroaches" Got it!
I have a lot in common with Cicadas. I also sing a song of numbing vibtrations in order to attract mates. You ladies best be careful when I get down to Tenn...once my shell gets a hummin' you will fall under my romantic trance....homminun-humminum-hommin-um-hmmmmnnnnnbbbbbbb

There was an article in my local newspaper today about the buggers. Evidently they only inhabit rich soil. So depending on where you are is where they'll be. The soil in my part of town isnt particulary great so I dont see them being a huge problem around here. Anyone know about the soil on the farm?
I'm bringing a billion lovebugs from florida to Roo and hosting the world's first "Toughbug contest". The winner of each division gets to mate with the other species to create the world's first "Lovada". I will spread these mutant Lovada's everwhere I journey for the remainder of time. First stop after Roo......Coventry.
