I'm a huge fan of both. I'm choosing the White Stripes simply because they have a large catalog of music, and it's all really good. I'm sure if the Raconteurs had more albums out, I'd choose them.
I used to be a big White Stripes fan around the time of their second and third albums, but now they've worn on my taste, and I even skipped the show last year in favor of Ornette Coleman and then walking around.
Raconteurs, I'd say if you give them enough time to develop as a band, they could easily surpass White Stripes. Plus, at this current moment, I like Raconteurs more.

I was in the same boat last year. The White Stripes were one of my favorite bands around the time of De Stijl and White Blood Cells, but I'd lost interest in them over the years. I ended up getting pretty close for their set though and it blew me away and made me remember why I had loved them so much to begin with. I wasn't really all that excited about them when the lineup was announced, but they ended up being my favorite show of the weekend.
The Raconteurs are cool, but I don't think I like them as much as the Stripes. I think they'll definitely rock Bonnaroo pretty hard though - so I am really excited to see them.
Gotta go with The Stripes as well.Raconteurs didn't really do anything for me a few years ago when I saw them. I got hope though. Love love love the new record.

I'm also in the Stripes camp. The Raconteurs are very good, I'd even say great if I wasn't comparing them to the Stripes. However, though the Racs are no slouches live, you'll never see a show like a White Stripes show and, in my opinion, the tighter structure of the Racs will never allow them to get to that wild anything-could-happen level.

^^^I agree. While Jack is incapable of doing anything that is outright bad, the musical choices in The Raconteurs' stuff is occasionally rather pedestrian. TWS almost always seems to be coming from some secret treasure trove of brilliant new ideas. If that makes any sense.

raconteurs...and its not even close
meg is an average drummer at best, and their sound wore on me
i feel like jack is exploring more sides of himself with the raconteurs, and overall, i like their songs more. not to mention their live show kicks all kinds of ass. seeing them live back in 06 was the reason i bought their first album, and i was not disappointed.
i feel like a hypocrite for voting raconteurs.... but at the moment i find a lot more joy in their music than i currently do with my old white stripes favorite "get behind me satan"
when you think of the white stripes, you think of jack white, when you think of the raconteurs, suddenly there's a real band to appreciate and you love that jack is a part of it

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but unless their opinion is the White Stripes it shouldn't count. Just kidding, I do enjoy both bands but for me personally it isn't even close.
I gotta go for the White Strips. I've saw the Stripes 3x and Raconteurs twice. I just feel the Raconteurs music is too generic and the Stripes put on an awesome show.
They have a new album on the way. New songs soon. Most assume they'll tour since jack is done with his long solo tour. I expect they'll be playing some shows by the summer.
