Is there a chance that Stone Temple Pilots could be the announcement on Thursday? Not sure if they would be considered "big," but they did just recently reunite, have sold 40+million records, and were known for putting on some of the absolute best rock concerts during there time. Not to mention, I think Scott Weiland is one of the best front men to come around in the last 20 years despite all of his drug problems. I mean hell if Pearl Jam is headlining, why not STP? They are 2 of the biggest bands to come out of the grunge era. I'm not really sure if I consider STP to be a Roo band, but I didn't really expect Kanye and Metallica either. The only reason I am wondering is because of all of the rumors that JJ will be dropped from the headline spot on Sunday. STP just put together a 65 date tour and June 15th is mysteriously blank. Of course this is all assuming Scott doesn't OD before the tour haha.

LMAO. We have been batting the idea of STP @ Roo around our house since the reunion was released. I've never seen them live, and would honestly like to. It would be good to see Scott's "last performance" (if he didn't od backstage beforehand) cause roo could possibly cause yet ANOTHER relapse for him...assuming he ever got clean to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I don't judge him. There are just several artists you can't bring to bonnaroo without a possible OD scenario...see Amy Winehouse. Exception to the rule...Keith Richards; that man has pickled himself and could survive anything!!
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Holy sh*t ... what a ride!"

I didn't post this in the rumors thread because I felt it deserved to stand on it's on smartass. STP is much more plausible and believable. Why you ask? Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Mars Volta, Tom Waits, etc. ARE NOT GOING TO PLAY. People need to get that through their overly expanded heads. That is primarily what that thread is filled with.
Let's see, the last time I saw STP (near the end of their run) they were opening for Aerosmith and the venue was about half-full at the end of their set, with 90% of the present crowd sitting down bored to tears...granted, I actually kind of enjoyed the set, but it would just be a huge letdown if this were the "big announcement." Maybe they'll give us Everclear, Live and Foo Fighters too and make it a 90's themed weekend.
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. Well don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.

I really don't think STP is plausible at all. At least I sure fuckin' hope not. Definitely not as a headliner. That would mean you'd have Metallica - Pearl Jam - STP as headliners. If this were Lollapalooza circa 1995 that'd be fine, but it's 2008 and it's Bonnaroo. And how do you know that Roger Waters, Led Zep, or Tom Waits are definitely NOT GOING TO PLAY?? Do you have some inside info, or..?

last time I saw STP was 2000...and they were playing support for Red Hot Chili Peppers, whom they completely blew away.

like that's any big accomplishment. rhcp would be one of the few bands more disappointing than stp
