Hi everyone,
This is my second year and this time I am going RV General Admission instead of tent. (can't afford VIP) I was reading over at the Bonnaroo official site under their FAQ section and read this:
"Can my friends park their cars next to my RV?
They will NOT be allowed to park their cars directly next to your RV. There will be Companion Vehicle campgrounds next to the RV campgrounds to park one companion vehicle per RV. You must purchase a Companion Vehicle pass with your RV pass if you plan on parking a vehicle in the RV companion vehicle campground. "
I have read all of the post's on Gene's sticky thread about RV's up there and I got the impression that they let the car park next to the RV. Is this a new rule? I mean, if my friend has to park away from the RV I would not have purchased a pass. I mean what's the point?
The RV and the Car have to be together with the correct passes - they enter and stay together.
The people parking were not thinking when they did some of the parking last year. They parked one group on the fire lane so they could leave, parked the truck for their trailer at the back of the camper then they would have parked our 4 Runner at the back except the guys in next to us knew to raise "cain" about our fumes killing then since they all slept outside ....... they pitched such a fit that the gal parking us was beside herself and once I agreed to back in, they really started BUT the father of the men was local and they all had been there every year. So it was what I would say older people expressing the way it needed to be and the parking person finally let us do it our way. However, by the time the next group got there, she parked them so close that it put fumes into our RV which set off all the alarms. The group would have moved if I had asked but I went to the top in the hopes that this year they would educate the people doing the parking as to the fact that there needs to be some space between RV's and that each group has different needs as to where there car needs to be.
Point is that you may have to educate the people parking and stand your ground - I know a lot more this year so I will not settle for any condition that I think will be unsafe. It took me 4 hours to get my issue worked out - the people next to me would have moved once they got back to camp and were really sweet about it, I just wanted to medical people and the fire people to understand that exhaust fumes come in RV when they are parked on top of each other. Also they did not do the fire lanes the way they were suppose to in the handicap area.
So think about your needs, is anyone sleeping in the car, etc??? My son walked in to join us from where his ride let him out - we had to walk over his ticket then his girlfriend drove in early Saturday morning. They had trouble finding her car when they got ready to leave on Sunday night - it was covered in dust and I think it took about two hours to locate. Things had changed so since she parked.
Also remember to think about if you are going to have the honey wagon service your RV - they did not park the RV's where this was an easy task.
