i posted this thread in This Tent instead of here and now i dont know how to move it.
hi im a doc who works in nashville with homeless individuals. i work with persons truly unable to work or function who live, literally, on the street (under bridges etc). recently a group of disabled persons lost their riverfront homes and campsites. there is actually an old ordinace which states that you can live on the riverfront. i was wondering about organizing something to collect sleeping bags and old tents for this population. this would be done through an established organization (you can get a tax form from them) and would go DIRECTLY to the homeless population (those who have issues and CANNOT WORK OR FUNCTION). i donated a tent and it went STRAIGHT to a needy person who cannot work due to a disability his tent was trashed recently (long corporate story). i was wondering how many rooers might have old tents or "gear" before i move forward???? thanks
i hope this doesnt offend anyone...im just checking things out first. nothing would go to me directly.
I definately have a sleeping bag and might be able to come up with some other things too. I'll look through my stuff tonight. PM me. I'd love to contribute.
