Balloons are a great way to mark your campsite.

A lot of people fly large foil balloons above their campsites to mark their space. It can be hard sometimes to find your space, esp after a late night and you are stumbling around in the dark in questionable sobriety.

There are lots of large balloons you can get, large shaped foil balloons and 3' to 8' round colored latex ones, too. You can get them inflated anywhere on the way (kroger, party city, etc), tie them off with some good twine and let 'em fly!

I would definitely recommend a shaped foil (mylar) balloon over latex though. A foil balloon should hold gas and fly for two or three weeks. They come in all shapes, sizes and characters. You can get a big balloon shaped like a guitar, a margarita, a beer glass, Big Bird - all kinds of things. I have over a hundred different shapes that I can get, if you are interested.

Latex doesn't usually last that long, but there is a product called HI-Float that the inflator can add that will make it fly much longer. The larger latex do last longer too, than the regular 11". I dont know how long a 3' round would fly, even with Hi-Float.

You can get your balloon inflated at any floral dept in a grocery or party store for a buck or so. When I go visit nashville and take balloons, I go to party city or kroger and have never once had a problem. Be sure to ask for a balloon bag and secure it out of your view while driving. Most responsible balloon retailers have them available.
