Wondering if someone can offer camping advice?? I have slept in a tent (VIP) last few years. Nights get really cold, but mornings heat up SO fast. Last year I wanted to get an early start on Monday morning, so I took down my tent and slept on a mattress in the back of my van. It was really comfortable! This year, I'm thinking of setting up a big ole' shade tent, parking the van underneath, and sleeping in the van on a mattress. I'll also set up tarps on the east side of the shade tent to further cut down on morning sun. In a rain situation, I'll be dry. Also, if it get way too hot in the a.m. I'll turn on the AC for an hour or so. This sounds too easy... am I missing something???
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
I sleep in a hammock and used to sleep on a cot. Last year on Saturday night I slept in the back of my truck with the camper top shut to escape the dust. I've never been in a tent at Roo.
The van will stay cooler in the AM than a tent and warmer at night. Just make sure you know where your exhaust is going before you fire up the van's AC.

When you are in your car and your playing music it will kill you battery if you dont crank up your car and charge it. Second if you run your A/C make sure its only for 1-3 hours at the most if not your car can overheat easily in the hot sun and that would suck. You could also back your van into the woods and get shade all day for free.

Thanks all! I promise to be careful of the exhaust. I have a couple of portable fans that I'll use before the AC. Better for the enviro. See you in a few weeks.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing--- I have a vw bus and I think I'm just going to put an air mattress in the back with some sheets and open up all the windows. I also just got a screened shade tent that zips up in back so I'll just set it up directly behind the bus.
OldLadyRoo--when you slept in your van last year-- did you sleep with the windows/doors open? I'm wondering about the safety/coolness/bug factor. . .
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

My daughter slept in the back of my SUV the year before last with all the car windows open. I don't think she had any problems, but when the sun came up she had to also open the doors and the back to get more air movement. There really aren't many bugs at Roo. Some nights do get a little chilly. As for safety, it would really be the last thing I would worry about and I am female.
Remember, it get really cold at night. You'll need to crack a window or two, but bring a couple of blankets. If you don't crack the window, the windows will get all steamed up and your camping neighbors will wonder what's going on in the van of yours ("If this van's arockin' don't come aknockin")!!!
^ It gets a litte chilly 60F at the lowest nothing like cold at Bonnaroo, I am not saying just bring sheets but a lightweight blanket should be all you need.
