Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hey- I've been reading the fora all day, and just figured out that Bonnaroo is during the second week of June... and at OSU exams run that same week, Mon-Thurs.
I saw one OSU person on here, so how do you do it? Do I just hope to God that my exams are over Wednesday? I can't skip any exams, because that would be frightfully stupid, and such and such. Also, this presents a problem with getting my crap out of my dorm- but if it's at all possible I'm going to make this work.
Anyway... Hopefully I can make it in 2009 (it was too late this year when my friend and I decided that we HAD to go). I don't think I can wait until 2013 or whenever the heck I don't have to worry about such conflicts!
If anyone else has any similar experiences, I'd appreciate hearing how you figured things out.
You should ask your professors if you can take any thursday or friday exams early. It sucks but if it's for Bonnaroo, then it's your only option!! Are you planning on living in a dorm all four years?
I don't know... I will probably do the dorm route at least my first two years, and see what sort of apartment-style things I get get later on. I asked a friend of mine who already goes there about exams, and she said some profs. might allow early tests, but I'm not sure if Bonnaroo qualifies as something that would warrant a special test date to them. She also said that most tests are before Thursday, anyway. So I'm hoping that I can get them all done Monday-Weds, somehow rendezvous with my friend who is also going (freshmen can't have cars on campus), and make it sometime Thursday.
I like how everything is already conspiring against me going. Anyhow- thanks for the advice. My excitement for college is now pretty much eclipsed by the fact that I -might- be able to go to the 'roo.
Unfortunately, I have exams too. One exam was scheduled for Friday and luckily, I'm able to take it on Wednesday. But, I have two exams on Thursday, and those are unmoveable. So, my boyfriend and I won't arrive in TN until late, late Thursday and we probably won't get to our camping/parking spot until like Friday 12am/1am.
ive taught at several different places and i would allow you to take it early. the thing that would be key to me is that you would show me that you would be leaving directly after the exam to go to your event. my concern would be that you would take the exam early then share it. sometimes i would use an alternative form of the exam (perhaps an essay exam sorry), in your case i think it would be important to emphasize the importance of arriving on time to roo. you could even include some of the threads about waiting in line to get into the show. be sure to show your ticket and what it costs as well. sometimes you can also take a late exam but i would not advise this after being at roo. also...these can get lost and you can end up with an I on your trascript for a semester or two.
my advice would be to carefully plan your case and provide documentation to explain what "roo" is. it needs to be clear that its NOTHING like going to a show at the local club. emphasize the planning that goes into it. i feel your chances are at least fair to good of working something out.
thats what happened with me for langerado this year-one exam on thursday and one on friday. fortunatly my professor let me take the friday exam on wednsday so i only missed thursday night

I was supposed to study for a calculus 2 test last year. Instead I went to ACL for the weekend. It was so worth it, but I failed the test and later dropped the class. I didnt really do any homework that semester though, so that was part of the problem. Right now I am taking a break from school for a while and living instead. Good luck.
Thanks a lot, belltwala . I should have ample time to build my case, haha.
rideincircles- Judging by my calc. perfomance this year, I'm going to have to make sure I don't miss any study time... but I'm sure ACL was still amazing.
anyone asking this question obviously hasn't been to Bonnaroo... those who have know that you do whatever it takes to make it to get the job done and get to bonnaroo...
ask to get them to take them before wednesday, and get your ass on the road to TN! :-)
I was talking about next year- if my assumption is correct, exams will be around the same time as Bonnaroo next year. I'm just trying to plan ahead.
I did look at a calendar thing and the tentative dates seemed to back that up + the fact that 'roo is the second-ish week in June. Of course, if it turns out being later in 2009 than I expect, I will be pleasantly surprised.
yeah I go to OSU too and this doesn't really bother me all that much because i still haven't had an exam on thursday yet. my professors try to schedule them early because they want to get out just as much as we do. but even if they do give me one on thursday i'll just have my car packed and ready to go so as soon as i get out of the final i'll head straight to the farm.
Okay, that is good to hear. My friend is still trying to get her parents to let her go (she hopes to have them give her the okay before tickets go on sale in February). I don't know what I'll do if she can't go.

Move out of your dorm early, if you plan on staying in an extra night say that Tues, i'd suggest leaving maybe toothbrush/soap and items of that nature that you would use at roo. Have your car packed and ready to go so when you leave, you leave for roo. Make the most out of the time you are going to be late to minimize delay. You could also start earing brownie points with your professors now until June to try to sway them into letting you take it early.
Iantheaus- I can't take a car my first year, so that presents the main problem I guess. My friend with whom I hope to go next year (she still has to convince her parents that bonnaroo isn't just a bunch of pervs, haha) is going to pick me up, and we might leave from there (but I'm pretty sure that everything I'm taking is going to fit into her car, PLUS her luggage and mine for 'roo), or go back to where we live and drop all of the junk off before we leave for TN. I'm probably going to go the brownie point route, and also hoping as next year approaches that things all work out like I hope they can. Thanks for the advice!
