So with the drought being alleviated a twee bit here in Dixie I was curious what you guys think about the dust situation this year? I remember at this point last year things were getting bad but we have had a lot of rain this year. Any locals of Roo country who can give us periodic updates would be awesome as well.
Honestly though as a middle TN resident I have to say it will be dust or mud so be prepared either way. 50,000 automobiles will make some kind of impact on the farm.
In 2003 it was hot but the neither the dust nor the rain were bad. It rained a bit beforehand and the ground was interestingly bouncy. Hoping for weathr like that again though I wouldn't mind it a hair cooler.
Unfortunately when you are in TN in June a hair cooler means it is raining. The dust did not bother me that much last year, but I would reccomend a bandanna in case things get bad. I saw so many people with bandannas wrapped around their faces last year I thought someone was going to try and rob a bank.
don't apologize - lakai is just like that - take it with a grain of salt - or ignore him like the rest of us
a bit harsh!
I'd rather be prepared for dust with surgical masks than be wet and muddy all week. I've had my whole "rage in the monsoon with prune feet" moment with festies this year.
I really wouldn't mind it if it rained a few times like it did last year. Nothing really heavy, but enough to cool things off for a bit, cut down on the dust and make people happier.

With a nice wet bandanna the dust was bearable last year...I had to wear goggles though because dust and a cornea transplant don't mix well. I found that if I sipped my frozen drink under the bandanna it was like having air conditioning for my face....very nice.
I might custom paint some sweet surgical masks and see what I can barter them for. ;D
