I'm volunteering with an organization that works with countries in Africa to help with education, food, healthcare, etc. One of the things that got brought to me today was that they are going to start purchasing locally made baskets from sustanable resources and are looking to get some help getting those into events where they can be sold.
This is a crossover project so I dont believe all of the proceeds are going to the non-profit but at least a portion will be donated back on top of the fair trade purchase prices being given to the local artisans.
I think festies like Roo, All Good, Rothbury and Rado (plus all the other totally great smaller ones) would be a perfect venue to sell things like this at. Does anyone have any advice on how to get into events like this?
Or thoughts on other events that might be good opportunities?

Hmmm I definitely don't know, I would imagine you would need to contact the Vendor people and usually you give them monies and they assign you an area, you might be able to get a list of other vendors and maybe one of them would allow your organization to occupy some of their space.......That's who I would start with first....the vendor people, and if they're not the people to talk to I am sure they would be able to direct you....
And that sounds awesome by the way! I think handmade baskets would do really well at festivals like this. Karma for the good deeds you're doing!!!
Edit-oh yeah and there are some small privately owned stores that might be willing to have a small section in their store for something like that. But I don't know if their are fees involved or anything because alas! I do not own a store
well this is actually a project with a for profit business, just a socially conscious for profit (like I said its a crossover with the non-profit). So i think paying fees is going to be kind of expected.
