So this will be my first Roo and I had planned on going with some friends of mine, but they have all cancel plans on going. I'll have some friends there, but they will be in V.I.P. I was wondering if anyone has gone to Roo solo before. If so how was it?
I'm going solo, looking forward to it, make all my own decisions. Went with 2 girls the last 2 times and missed out on a few things in order to be friendly.

My first year, I might as well have gone alone. Drove down there with a friend, but we both did our own thing the whole time. Hardly ever hung out with eachother. It was fun. You get to make your own decisions and the like, without worrying about anyone else.
I'm driving from Oregon to Tenn. alone, I'm meeting a friend who's flying. Yet I expect once we get to 'roo I'll be doing the solo thing too. It shouldn't be that bad, there's always someone to talk to lol.
I love going solo. No scheduling conflicts, no friends in a bad mood, no babysitting friends who are too wasted, total freedom. It's the only way to Roo. All alone with 80,000 friends!

I would really like to go alone one year. I'm always the friend that worries about everybody and makes sure everyone is ok, so maybe next year i'll go alone. Although this year, I'm planning on hanging out alone most of the time because i want to see completely different bands than my friends.
I think this is an awesome idea and kudos to all who do it! my friend just got back from coachella where he organized a camping community for solo fest-goers. i don't think he could have had a better time.

This year will be my first Roo, and I'm going solo. My silly friends all flaked out on me. I do have a couple friends who are also going, but from different parts of the country. I figured since I'd be going alone, it'd make more sense to just fly in and take the airport shuttle bus.

^^and that is exactly why I'm not bothered by it. Besides, I'm a very friendly, outgoing person, so I'm sure I'll have no problem getting to know tons of cool people down on the farm.
I'll be Roo'ing solo this year, too! Solo has its own pros and cons. All the pros have been mentioned, do what you want, etc. but for sure, you can make being in the middle of 80K people the loneliest place on earth. Make sure you meet the neighbors so you have someone to say 'You'll never believe what I just saw!' to.

I'm going solo, too. Since I'm volunteering and will be camping with the rest of the staff, I have a feeling there will be a lot of other solo people there, any way. Plus, during shifts, I'm sure I'll meet more people, too. All that really matters, regardless, is that I'll be amongst thousands of kindred spirits--especially during the mmj set.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

i hungout with a solo camper group at coachella last year and had the time of my life...maybe it was the same group because the ones i hungout with did the same this year

I'm pretty positive my friends are gonna fake, leaving me to journey alone. I'm a fresh, new, Roo-virgin, volunteer, and will def be tent only. If I wasn't required camp with the other vols, I would totally camp with ya'll Inforooers. Ah, whatev, another opportunity to get to know myself better, right?
Everyone I've met online has been incredible, but how many mysoginist cuckoos do you get at Roo? My friendly, outgoing nature, can be misinterpreted at times... especially when drunk.

Hmm.... there's no 'tent only' in staff camping. . . but from what I understand, it's pretty chill over there, anyway so it's not really a problem to have the cars around. I'll be seeing you over there!

I meant I'm just gonna have my tent, no car. But its good to know that the volunteer section is cool. Do they really require you to sleep in that designated section each night?

This will be my first bonnaroo and I will most likely be alone as well. All my friends "don't have the money" even though we've been planning this since January.
So I guess I'm riding this lonely train too.
I'm kind of nervous about the thought but there's no turning back and I am absolutely certain it will turn out to be an awesome event in my life. Maybe I'll stay in the inforoo camp....

I went solo in 06 and had a blast. Just talk to people around you, and you will have people to hang out with all weekend. I liked having the flexibility to go to any show I wanted. The people on one side of my camp were not cool at all even after I tried to chat with them a couple of times, but they didn't bother me. I met people at the Brooers Tent, in line for coffee, waiting in line for portos, at shows. There are tons of people by themselves or not with a huge group that are interested in hanging out. I would trade interesting craft beers from IL with my neighbors. I'm going solo this year, but have friends coming a little later from a different part of the country. I'll be camping solo, but have people to go to shows with, perfect set up.
This will be my 5th Roo, and the first one that I am going solo...dumped the ex after 9 years....I cannot wait to go by myself... Everyone is always so friendly plus I have others coming that I have met over the years..I cannot wait to get there VIP here I come

I'll be in staff camping. I don't think it's a major rule that you camp in staff-only area. They would like for you to, but I'm sure you can camp where you'd like. I believe the main reason for a staff-only area is because of certain shifts you may have to work. Staff-only has a supposed quiet-time begining at 11:00p. But, I still managed to party my arse off in it last year. There are several perks to staff-only. Check out the volunteer forum on here for details. If you want to camp with general public just peel off the staff-only sticker that will be inside your windshield. You'll still have the staff bracelet to get the other perks.
