in 06 we went through the mountains. we left charleston at 9am and got to roo at about 6pm including a one hour stop for lunch. in 07 and 08 we went through atlanta and got to roo in about 7 hours. take atlanta just try to hit it when its not anywhere close to rush hour.
I know from the midlands, it takes longer to go though the mountains (I drive to Nashville every year, a couple of times a year, so I learn the best route), so, everytime, I go through ATL.
Okay, so consensus seems to be go through Atlanta. That is what I thought. I know those mountains pretty well, and I don't want to drive them at night in an RV.
Yeah, by miles, the mountain route may be shorter, but if you just slightly speed (not that I'm condoning it) you can get from the midlands to Atlanta in 2 and a half hours, then from Atlanta to Manchester in about 2.

Hey,
Is there a Justin from SC who drives an FJ Cruiser with an ARB Roof Top Tent. If so, Will from Sierra Expeditions said that you will also be at Roo. I'll be at Waika and Roo with my RTT.

damn man. i am near anderson and it takes me almost that long to get to atl. you are doing more than "slightly speeding" haha. i usually go 80 on 85, you must be going 100.

So from Atlanta to Manchester is 2 hours? Which exit do you all suggest? We are probably going to leave Wednesday night, make it close (maybe even to the Wal-Mart), and then wait until Thursday morning. Will welcome any and all advice on this. Thanks!

i think it takes a little longer than that. but last time we stopped in chattanooga to stay with friends and we are again this year. bonnaroo has it's own exit. the exit numbers are all even, bonnaroo's is odd, 111 i think.
Hey sangreal, what time do you usually head out to the roo. I'm leaving from the Aiken area on Thursday, and I'm trying to get an idea on what time is a good time to arrive.

we leave as early as we can wed. so we can have time to hang out with our friends in chattanooga. so we just get up thur. morning and drive about an hr to roo. but last time we got caught in traffic for a couple hours. the first time i went we left early thur. morning and got there around 2 or 3 pm wit very little traffic. if i were you i would leave very early thur. morning.
Thanks sangreal. That's kind of what I thought. I think we may try and leave at like 4 in the morning that means we should be geting into TN around 9 or 10 something. I'm not sure how much that's going to help us, but we'll see.
