Maybe they were trying to get into the Skull and Bones Society @ Yale.
The story is that Prescott Bush, George W.'s grandfather, Yale '17, was a legendary Bonesman; he was a member of the band that stole for the society what became one of its most treasured artifacts: a skull that was said to be that of the Apache chief Geronimo.
Ya never know about people. I think that I've heard alot worse things happening to corpse's.

Yes...I with you on that...Funny as hell!!...but it makes sense to me...Anybody a 'head in here'? Im up for being a bong when I die...I wonder if they could make that some special donation option....
reminds me of the story about Mikey Hart. He had a drum made of a human skull and was warned not to play it carelessly or he would wake the dead. A short time after he came to own it he had started complaining to his freinds that he was having bad luck and felt he was cursed, shortly after that he rolled an automobile off the side of a mountain and broke his collar bone and had to skip the summer tour to heal.
that story was in "A long strang trip" by Dennis Mcnally

Heard a story about strange things that the Grateful Dead would get in the mail. One day a large box arrives and inside is a long letter from a guy telling them about his brother, a huge Deadhead, who had recently passed away. It finishes by saying this was he last wish and further down in the box is the brother's actual skull, a thankyou gift to the band. They kept it.
Sadly, this isn't the first such incident I've heard of. I don't remember where, but I read a couple years ago about some people doing the exact same thing.

Yeah, I guess it's pretty common for people in need of smoking paraphernalia to think "hmm, why don't we dig up a grave and steal a skull and make a bong out of it?".
