Quick question (somewhat) along these lines -- if we are a group with an RV and a car in VIP, will we be able to keep the car with the RV? I know the rules for GA, but wasn't sure in VIP... Thanks for any input!

It depends. Concensus seems to be that last year, things did not go according to plan. RV's were mixed in with cars. Apparently, there were a lot of complaints about generator noise, so it's very likely they'll go back to cars in a separate area from RV's. That said, wherever your car ends up, it won't be more than a couple minute's walk from your RV. VIP is a small area to begin with. Nothing could be parked far from anywhere else.

Yep.
And last year was a complete mistake. My RV was actually parked in a car-sized parking space. Later as Roo wore on we spoke to several official staffers who all recounted how once the situation with parking went awry they couldn't fix it so it ended up being mixed. I wouldn't assume that it will ever intentionally be like that again.
So this is my first year VIP from what I have read on here the folks that showed up at about 12 or 1 had no issues at all. Those of you who were early, well it sounds like it got rough. So what are the disadvantages of showing up later. Honestly living in Nashville the idea of a good nights sleep getting up late, and then rolling down has its attractions. Just curious asto what you VIP vets think.

If you have the patience, I don't see a problem. There is plenty of room and I haven't heard of a bad space yet. A good night's sleep would be nice, but we are always way too excited to get there for that.

There are some minor advantages to arriving early from a space perspective (closer to Centeroo entrance). Before last year arriving early did mean sailing on in with almost no traffic and then having lots of time to hang out, set up and get in the vibe.
Last year was a weird anomaly- but it was also the year when VIP was expanded.
^^ Good points all. I still don't know how I want to do it. If we develop a VIP camp inforoo I want to go in with you guys of course ;D. If not I don't know.
My wife and I got to VIP check-in last year around 4pm and were setting up camp half an hour later. Had time to grab a bit to eat at the VIP pre-party and catch 3 or 4 shows that night.
We will be there around 10. Would be great to group a bunch of us together. Lets make it happen. This check in location should make it work. I'm still wiped out that they actually listen to the people. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Count us in...this will be far enough out (and hopefully not so much traffic EXCEPT us coming from VIP and a few others coming from the general area) to make it farily easy to stick together...it's a straight shot in from there....and though for us it's a straight shot in to the school....some of you will have to actually come THROUGH Roo traffic to get there no? Coming in from the North?
I still gotta figure out where I'm dropping my friend off since he is not in VIP. People suggested the HIE previously, but now that the check in is elsewhere I don't know what I'll do.

drop him off at the Wal-mart - he can prolly find a ride in from there

I just got my tickets/directions yesterday, but as a read it, sounds like there will be a VIP check in at the off the farm location, and a toll booth style check in also. This is different than last year. But I would guess that your friend could come with you to the highschool check in, once you leave that check in, on your drive to the VIP check in, you will come within walking distance to the wallmart where you can just drop the friend off at.
That's my best guess. I'm still not sure about the 2 check ins this year though.
The VIP check-in will be very similar to last years except you will not have to exit your vehicle to get in line like we did in previous years at the HIE. At the high school parking lot you will check-in "tollbooth style" which means you will not have to get out of your car to exchange your tickets for parking passes and wristbands along with anything else they provide. You will then drive to the VIP entrance where parking passes and wrist bands will be checked and where you may be subject to search before being directed to your campsite.
I did notice that the T-shirts are to be picked up at the pod in VIP, rather than at check-in. But I didn't get that it would be toll-booth check-in prior to heading off to the farm. Did I just not read the directions closely enough (wouldn't be the first time)? Or is this inside info?
Hmm. Well. That would make early arrival and sleeping at the pick-up site a little more interesting, logistically. Wonder how they are going to handle setting up a line. I'm coming from pretty far away and wanted to avoid the GA traffic (and leaving home around midnight) by leaving after work and just sleeping in the car once I arrive. Preferably somewhere that isn't Walmart.
