im local and i hear people talking about buying their roo ticket AT roo. ive heard them say that they get a good deal on a ticket. some people were saying they pick them up for around 100. now im local so this is different, however, for people who may not be able to buy a ticket right now i was wondering if we could start a post with information about buying tickets AT roo.
does anyone have any personal experience in this? how much of a gamble would this be for someone who would travel to roo as opposed to a local?
i have my ticket, by the way, but i know some people dont.
I bought my tix this way the first 4 years and never paid more than $100. One year I got one for $50.
I'd just park near the gate and walk the traffic line back down Brushy Branch (I don't think they'd let you walk down the Interstate) asking for an extra.
I also kept an eye one boards like this and in '04 got one from someone driving in. Met them at Wendy's in M'boro Wed night and got one for $100.
I've had a little more $$$ the last couple years and so just bought from Bonnaroo but I guess it's still the same. Who wants to take an extra useless into Roo?
Since Roo is more mainstream now, there may be a problem with counterfeits but I wouldn't think so if your getting one from the traffic line.
We've done this a couple of times. One year we were in line (not sure what the street is called), in the city of Manchester across from the Food Lion and someone was walking up and down the line selling tickets.
Last year one of our friends didn't have their tickets yet so went to where the will call office was (next to the radiostation I think) and bought a ticket off of someone there.
Good luck. It can be done, but it is probably not worth the hassle of trying to navigate through all of the people waiting to get in.

We sold an extra at Walmart on Wednesday nite in 06 for about 160. I'm pretty sure the guy made a profit on it later.
That said, I saw a guy in line the next day offering face $$ and not having any luck getting a ticket. If you're friends REALLY want to go I'd advise them to buy from Bonnaroo and not chance it.

you could always go the ebay route, i just got mine for $200.
scoring a cheap one in line is tempting but once i get that close the last thing i want to do is waste time and stress out trying to save a few more bucks on a ticket, i just want to get the party started
