How did everyone survive the storm? sick umphreys mcgee show moved in to the smaller harvest tent because of the storm, I bolted right after, and drove 3 hours straight through the storm to go home, Blue turtle Seduction Late Night Set which was suppose to end the festival was canceled due to safety issues, but their violinist played one song real quick after Umphreys to end it and later on the Harvest tent Collapsed, Tents and portapotties got flipped over by the storm winds, and Highway 23 North was closed due to trees being in the road, I heard,so I left right in the nick of time but still a pretty good weekend, with great shows by Leftover salmon, New Monsoon, Split Lip Rayfield, Dirtfoot, Green mountain Grass,Cornmeal, Ben miller Band, Big Smith, Shotgun brothers band, Perpetual Groove(who got cut a little short, as did The Wailers to end the music on the mainstage), and Umphreys Mcgee moving into the smaller harvest Tent with a more scaled down setup was cool, as it also allowed people to bring coolers of beer into the area if they wanted, it was not allowed in the mainstage concert area, where New Belgium Brewing was vending. I am excited to do it again next year, and hopefully the weather will be better next time.
Yeah, I'm glad you made it out in time to not get caught in it too bad. We did okay. I was freakin' terrified, cowering in my car with a damp blanket, a damp pillow, a wet towel, and a dry jacket. Somebody's tent slammed into the back of my car, further scaring the shit outta me. Sunday morning we left half of our stuff because there was no point in trying to save it. We left the tent, I left my sleeping bag, I think I left another pillow. I'm pretty sure there was a stray bungee cord somewhere. Driving back there was definitely some clean-up that had taken place that morning. I saw at least two trees that were removed from the road, and by 'removed' I mean they took a chainsaw and hack off the part that was blocking the road. Saw several uprooted trees and one happy deer bolting in front of a large truck.
All in all, I had a ton of fun! Lots of great shows and tons of great people!
Definitely an awesome time. We could hear the main stage perfectly fine from our campsite, so we stayed there for a lot of the time. The Wailers playing for a short amount of time sucked, but it was cool how they kept playing even after they got unplugged. Umphrey's was completely awesome. I enjoyed Boombox quite a bit too. The storm was a little much for me. I did well until my tent became unstaked and got completely flooded. That wind was crazy. We woke up to find our sunshade completely missing. No sign of it what so ever. Makes for a good story though. I'll definitely be back next year.
