I've been thinking of this for a while - is anyone interested in getting together one night (probably before latenight begins) to costume each other up as glow-stick people?
I'm talking about this:
It seems like we have a big group here and it's fun to see a few people in this getup. but it'd be really impressive to get 25 people doing it
Anyway, if there is interest, we can wait until the schedule is released before deciding the night. I'd be really easy to do this as VIP only - but we could make it happen probably just as easy at camp inforoo in tent only.
Yeah, i know what you mean. it really hard to plan for something like this. ill make a commitment if there are a bunch of other people, otherwise, it's going to be hit or miss for me too!
as far as timing, we'd probably meet up after the headliner. however, if there's only 45 minutes until MMJ go on - i can understand why it wouldnt work out. or we could meet in centeroo and us VIP'ers can get in the glowstuffs...
i figure we have an advantage over most attendees when it comes to organization. i think we should use that advantage to enhance bonnaroo both for ourselves and others. this is one, albeit, small way to do just that.

I might be up for it if I end up making it to roo. But I don't think you'd be able to do it in tent only, because you can't bring glowsticks into Centeroo. Not that obviously, at least. You'd have to bring them in and then decorate everybody inside, I think.
ooh, squirrel, that makes it far easier. we should be able to walk through with anything in the vip security check. nice!
i guess we are looking at 2 groups then - one in vip and then meeting others inside. i'd suggest behind the what stage vip entrance/exit since it will be less crowded.
has anyone ever done this? im thinking all you need is clear packing tape, dark clothes, and glow bracelets. probably the long ones... ill have to troll ebay for some.
I'm not in VIP but I'd love to join in the fun! I can try to bring as many glowsticks as possible for myself and others. I saw a show that did this same thing a while back and always wanted to try it out and roo seems the best place to do it. Count me in for sure.
Also I think a lot of people use what they call El wire (Electroluminescent wire) to make theses sort of costumes. I don't know too much about it, but I'm looking into it. It seems like you can purchase "plug and play" kits that are ready to use. I think you would sew the wire to your costume
That's what I was thinking too, maybe this year we can try it just with glow necklaces. I was figuring out the length/pricing/etc and the el wire is too expensive for us this year considering the time frame. Plus it really looks like the best way to attach it to your clothes would be by sewing loops to hold it or something similar which would take some time too.

I actually just found glow paint, it's essentially the same formula that they use in glowsticks, except it's approved for use on hair and body. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the hair one...but I'll be more then happy to spend the few extra bucks to see a bunch of glowing inforoosters walking around.
okay, so we are going with the glow bracelets and probably clear packing tape to attach it to our clothes. im not keen on wearing pants / long sleeves, so i might sacrifice a pair of socks to make cloth bands for my forearms and legs. probably a hat to tape a ring around my face
tape + body hair = owies.
now the big question - what time to we organize this? personally, im thinking saturday night after pearl jam. behind the what stage (so the VIP'ers can meet up to accessorize and then haul out the glow stuff to everyone else...

my boyfriend and I bought a ton of glow sticks so we would totally be down, but were not in vip. We're actually getting glow shoelaces. You can find them on ebay. And he's making a jacket covered completely in glowsticks.
just got inspiration. the glow mouth thingies would enhance this....
Coincidentally, as of yesterday, I now have upwards of 150-200 blinky LED mouth guards/Grillz that have been added to my repertoire.
The surplus of these devices is a result of trying to hawk them at a local modern rock (read: sh1tty hard rock) concert; I think 'Roo is much more fitting/deserving.

just be careful with the mouth pieces. I had one break in my mouth one halloween and my spit was glowing for the rest of the night. and trust me. I was spitting A LOT 'cause it tasted gross! BUT, my mouth, teeth and all, were glowing on their own until I brushed my teeth before bed which was cool. I felt like some sort of alien lol
ive decided im going to make a "grass skirt" of long glow necklaces... by stringing a strong thread through the connectors i can later attach the glowing necklaces later in the evening. should be a good time
