So, I flew to Bonnaroo last year with a couple friends, and rented a car. We intended to stop at Wal-Mart, but due to some poor planning didn't make it there. So we got stuck having to buy all of our food and such, which gets expensive.
This year there is a possibility I will fly solo and take the shuttle. So my question is, how can I haul the essential supplies (food + beer)? Taking it on the plane would be difficult, since you can only check so much stuff. Does the shuttle make stops anywhere to buy stuff? Anyone have experience with this?
Also, any thoughts on shade that can be brought by plane? I'm thinking a set of collapsible poles, a big tarp, some rope, and stakes could do the trip, and could fit into a duffel bag. As long as I can recruit some neighbors to help put it up.
I haven't taken it before, but from what I read on the forum last year, there's plenty of room. If you can check it on the plane you can definitely fit it on the bus (is what I've read). Would like to hear from somebody who's actually taken the shuttle though.
I may take advantage of the helping hands folks, but I'm still curious whether there's any way to get supplies between the airport and Bonnaroo when taking the shuttle bus?

Just remember that the airlines are all imposing ridiculous checked baggage fees. First bag on American Airlines, starting Sunday of Bonnaroo, June 15, costs $15. If you bought your ticket before that one was announced earlier this week, you're safe. If not, take that into account. Virtually all airlines are already charging for your second checked bag. And on top of that, if it's overweight or overly large, there are overage fees. Best to make as much use of Helping Hands and buying at 'Roo as possible.
I think you can check a cooler as long as you tape the hell out of it to keep it shut and it doesn't leak (don't use bag ice-use frozen water battles or something that don't leak when they melt). There would prolly be an overweight charge or something though. But you could check a cooler and a tent, then use a carry-on for all your clothes. Then you wouldn't have to stop anywhere. Check with your airline to be sure, though.
Ah, well, that won't be too much of an issue, at least not for me. I'm going to bring down an empty cooler, then stock it up once I get to Nashville (I get in on Wednesday evening, so I'll have time to do that).

I took the shuttle last year and it was a real pain carrying all the camping supplies to tent only. Didn't get a chance to get any beer or water so we had to buy from the general store (at ridiculous prices) until we met some cool neighbors who were volunteers and had access to the Bonnaroo volunteer shuttle and they hooked us up with beer and water.
This year I am going MUCH lighter for camping gear. I bought the Cottonwood shade shelter that is about 15 pounds (but about $150). Also staying in Nashville Wed. night and going to get a couple cases of water and beer and a cooler and are just going to have to lug that stuff to tent only.
