After 5 roo roadtrips, I pretty much know what food and snacks I am bringing for the roadtrip and festival. I was just curious what everyone else has on their shopping list?
I have homeade trail mix, powerbar granola bars, triscuits and PB. Going to bring some bananas. I get a meal a shift as a volunteer, and i will buy the rest. Shouldnt be spending too much $$$
We try to eat as much of the free VIP food as possible. Other than that, just some quick breakfast stuff, chips and other snacks. The food in centeroo is great also. The less food I bring the more room I have for beer.

Me too, in VIP. The big mistake we made last year was assuming that the catering tent would be up and running by noon on Thursday. We were starving by the time it finally opened for dinner! This year, bringing salami, some cheese, Triscuits and mustard for a nice, "hey, the tent's up!" lunch.
Breakfast will be english muffins with jam or peanut butter. Pop tarts when we're really lazy.
Snacking on Fig Newtons, crackers, tapenade, breakfast stuff...whatever hits us as a good idea when the impulse buying starts the week of 'Roo! Gonna be a lot of transferring stuff from glass to plastic going on.

I'm making my own trail mix with pretzels, peanuts, pistachios, m&ms, reeses pieces, granola, and whatever else I see at the bulk food store that tickles my fancy
Last year we brought too much of the same sort of snacks (Cheese-its, doritos, chips, sun chips, dry crispy things...) so I want to switch it up. Oh, this is also vegetarian goodies
- oranges - cheese sticks - triscuits - PB, jelly, bread, cheese slices - baggies of pre-made rice/salsa/beans - mini Luna bars - pudding or fruit cups - True Lime (these little packets of dehydrated lime crystals - can go in water for a light flavor change) - fig newtons
Last year we brought way too much food. We ended up only eating breakfast (scrambled Eggs with ham or sausage) at our site and the rest of the time munching on snacks. The best thing that we brought was beef jerky and pbj. We honestly spent more money on buying food at the grocery store than we did actually buying food at centeroo. The corn dogs were only 5 bills and were a filler. I think if I can I want to bring some nice steaks to spoil myself for my birthday (June 14, Sat)...then again, I don't know if ill be able to cook them with all the festivities that will be going on.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

We are bringing only water, coffee and a camp stove (to cook the coffee). All other food items will be from VIP food tent or centeroo. We are always too hot and lazy to cook for ourselves. Plus, the heat makes me way less hungry. Of course we are bringing beverages, too, almost forgot that....
They have just about everything that festies have. I will say that the $1 grilled cheese is great for those late night munchies. Also the Arepas are good too they run about 3-5 if I recall, and the double Corn dog set us back about 5. For breakfast it was about the same 5 or 6 depending on what you got. For dinner there was an array of stuff ranging from 8-13. So it really is not all that bad. Last year between the two of us we purchased about 200 dollars worth of groceries and ended up eating only about half of the stuff and had to throw some out due to spoiling.
You cant go wrong with PBJ and some deli meats, but dinners...you really are not at camp for that and dont want to miss out on some shows or action due to having to take off for an 1/2 hour or 1hour for that matter.
I say keep it simple, buy snacks for the day and some breakfast stuff EASY and eat dinner and possibly lunch, it should cost you no more than 40 total a day including what you buy for snacks.

Hey Malo, Cook up one of those steaks for me on Saturday, would ya? It'll be my B-Day Too!
Snacks I'm bringing: Individual bags of chips, fruit cups, crackers, mixed nuts, ginger snaps, oreos, slim fast protein shakes, V8, oatmeal, granola bars, CarBoom gels, a few cans of soup, precooked/sliced baby potatoes, and.... does beer count as a snack?
My plan is a nice big bacon/eggs/coffee breakfast at camp but that's about it in terms of cooking meals. I may buy a couple Meals Ready to Eat from the camping store to have just in case.... (no not real military MREs, good camping stuff)

Some of the best, well-seasoned, easy as boiling in water camping meals I've ever had are the Zatarains mixes. Their red beans and rice/black beans and rice are especially great, since they give you a little protein. They come in low sodium now, if you're worried about that typical downside of prepared foods. I take the interior bag out of the box, write the name of the meal, cooking time and amount of water to add on the outside of the bag. Takes up minimal room. Super flavorful, inexpensive, relatively good for you and available at your local grocery!

we're planning on going to a walmart on the way and everyone chipping in cash and just buying most of our groceries there.
I would like to bring oranges, beef jerky, NUTRIGRAIN BARS!, granola, chips, canned fruit, tuna, saltines, graham crackers, a loaf of bread, pb & j, and the other random items.
Depending on how well my jello shot business goes determines if I'll get a meal or two in Centeroo.

Just curious, since this will be my first Roo, how many coolers do ya'll normally bring? I am going with three other girls, and since I'm the only real camper of the group, we decided not to bring any type of cookstove, so I don't really need room for anything besides beverages and fruit, I guess. We are basically planning on living on dried foods and snacky stuff around the campsite, and then getting our main food at Shakedown and Centeroo. I think it will be easier for us to just buy everything else while we are there. I know about the water rule (a case per person) but does that mean a 24 pack, or what? That seems super wasteful to me, so maybe we will bring a couple gallon jugs instead of one of the cases. Also, regarding the Camelbacks, can we fill them up before we get into Centeroo, or do we have to have them empty? Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

I haven't really planned this exactly..
my must haves are: PBJ burgers and hot dogs pepperoni and chesse with ritz crackers grapes! a huge tube of Utz pub mix trail mix cashew crunch multiple boxes of wine candyyy & of course scrambled eggs with: ham and cheese on bagels/english muffins or salsa <3
We've brought the standard camp cook-out fare in years past, but a good amount of it has just gone to waste. So, we're going light in the food department this year and simply procuring on site. My personal list is as follows:
1 box of Cliff Bars 1 case H2O powdered gatorade 2x 4pk redbull 30 rack beer 1 btl gin 1 btl whiskey or vodka 4 limes 2 btl tonic
Maybe some granola, apples, cheese/cracker packs, pringles...

yeah i hear you on the meat...we usually bring chicken/steak to grill, then freak out about not being able to clean up properly after handeling the raw meat, so... this year we are foregoing the meat. we are bringing:
peanut/almond butter bread honey banana split snack mix(fresh market) jomeaide trail mix(spicy) Cliff/Luna bars pasta salad fruit salad(any fruit drizzled with a honey/lime dressing) brownies;) veggies(pre-chopped), canned chicken, rice, and can pineapple (for stirfry) eggs oatmeal homeade tuna salad lemonaide, water, beer, wine
We are bringing quite a bit of food, since we have to be there on Tuesday....and we enjoy cooking!
I actually don't like to eat much on a day like 'roo. I drink plenty of lemonade and 'ritas for hydration and calories. Sometime at night I will gorge myself like a bear preparing for hybernation. I'll bring a container of 3 days worth of Tuna Salad, which has salt and protein -- the two things I really need on hot, active days.
I bring good bread to keep my system flowing, if ya know what I mean.

-- peanut butter, bread and/or torillas, maybe jam -- homemade trail mix -- clif bars or other protein bars -- bananas, maybe some other fruit. apples. -- powdered drink mixes (kool-aid, crystal light, lemonade, etc.) -- maybe other snacks, poptarts, etc... easy things that don't require any preparation or extra cooking/eating supplies

last year, we realized that we brought entirely too much food.
This year, absolutely no meat. Probably all we'll bring is Clif bars, water, beer. hmm. I dont know, maybe Jerky. Not too much though.
We brought too much last year too.
I'll be bringing about 8 lbs of homemade beef/deer jerky and could probably live on that all week.
Also: string cheese apples & oranges 2 lbs can of honey roasted peanuts 1 lbs of almonds PB & bread lunchables hotdogs candy (I wanted rock candy so bad last year)
