Due to some complications, my friend is going to need to buy his ticket for as cheap as possible. I see a lot of tickets on eBay going for around 150-200 bucks. Does anybody have any experience with ordering their tickets on eBay? Is it safe/will he definitely get his tickets?

last year i saw more than one friend pick up tickets from ebay and they all worked out and were legit. just like any ebay auction, look for signs of a good seller or something that sounds legit.
2010: 3/12: The Bad Plus/Happy Apple/Buffalo Collision/The Bad Apple 6/10-13: Bonnaroo 6/19: Rock the Garden 7/30-31: Mid West Music Fest 8/21: Los Hombres Calientes 8/31: Marijuana Death Squads 9/11: The Book of Right On w/ City on the Make 9/23: Of Montreal w/ Janelle Monae 10/4: Broken Social Scene 11/23: Grinderman
check the sellers feedback history, stay away from first time/new sellers. Click on the feedback number and check what he/she has sold also, make sure it's not just a few .99 cent junk items. Don't pay over 200, I see lots of people are, there are plenty for 200 or less if you watch for a day. Make sure shipping is free or cheap also and seller will use priority with delivery confirmation as time is getting tight.

I sold a ticket on ebay back in 2006 after someone backed out on us.
You can find some good deals, because most of the time if the tickets are on ebay really close to the festival, it's because someone has backed out-- and they need to sell the ticket asap.
Also check craigslist for your local city - sometimes that might be easier - that way you can meet up with the person IRL and hand over the money and get the ticket in hand

Wow I must be bad at this, I've been following ebay obsessively and haven't seen any go for less than 200. I barely missed out on a pair that sold for $250 (still kicking myself for that), but those are the only ones I've seen less than $200 per ticket.

search by "newly listed" and wait for a buy it now for 200 or less to pop up.

Ooh, thanks for the tip, I hadn't really thought of the buy it nows! I've mostly been checking in on the auctions a couple times a day and hadn't seen anything too cheap. I'll have to start checking the new listings like you said...thanks!

After the tickets ship (about now), your chance of getting ripped off decreases since you can actually get a picture of the ticket to make sure they have it. Other then this all the other suggestions are what you need to know. I will be getting my ticket off ebay or craigslist and i'm not too worried about it.
if youre buying from ebay just make sure you read the fine print. if you buy a ticket in one of my auctions, youd just be getting an image of the tickets and not the tickets themselves. MUAHAHAHA

Feedback score must be 100% and more than 15 or 20 tranactions. I bought my 2003 ticket on Ebay and sold an extra in 2005 on Ebay had no problems with either transaction...

Thats not very nice, I hope I never buy from you on ebay. I got scammed once on there, where instead of the item they had sold me a raffle ticket. That part was in ultra fine print at the bottom. Thank god for paypal.

Just jumped on ebay and the newest one listed was a bin of 225 free shipping, and the seller had pretty good, but limited, feed back. I'm gonna hold out for a better deal hopefully, but this one didn't seem bad.
Try Nashville craigslist there are several good deals there, and worse comes to worse, I will pick it up for you and leave it with my accountant so you can pick it up at my office in Nashville and give him the cash whenever. He will put it back in my account during 'roo

If I don't find a good enough deal to convince my friend to go, I'll have to sell my ticket on ebay. I'm really hoping I don't get stuck with it because I've never done anything on ebay myself before...I used to always use my brother's account, so my account has no transactions and I'm afraid people won't trust me. Eek.

Haha my bad man. i guess it wasnt clear that i was joking around. ive never sold anything on ebay but ive heard of that scam where they just sell you a picture of the item. and to OP......if you do have to dump that ticket without any ebay credibility, i would try going to one of those stores that sells your stuff on ebay (haha like the girlfriend in 40 year old virgin). theyll want a cut of your sale but theyd have the credibility and time/resources to ship the ticket effectively. if youre from nashville, theres a place in green hills next to the "relax your back" store.

I have two friends selling tickets for less than face -- I'm not sure if they're still available, but PM if you're still in need and I'd be happy to check it out.

everyone I praise Craigslist! I just started searching in random cities and found this cool chick in Boulder, Co who sold me her ticket for $175! And free shipping.
We did the transaction through paypal so everything was legit on Sunday, her dad mailed my ticket on Monday, and I just got them yesterday! ;D
great deal.. just use paypal so it's all refundable.

craigslist is really the best. two friends and i got 3 tickets for 500 last week. from now on, i will always just buy my tickets off craigslist right before the festival. there are always going to be people trying to unload tickets for less than face.
Ended up getting two tickets for 400 (free shipping) on Ebay this past week. They arrived in the mail yesterday. They look legit, like the pictures I've seen floating around. I'm guessing it would be difficult to fake one of those souvenir tickets, should I worry now that I have tickets in hand?
Be very careful. I just saw on the news last night in Nashville where about 10 people got ripped off on Craig's List. The guy sold the tickets for $50 under face value and the people were told that they had to print their tickets. Bonnaroo does not sell tickets that way. One guy had bought 4 tickets and boy, was he hot!
