Well I was in the camping area and it hit me... No one has said anything about ants or mosquitoes. They had some of those mosquito OFF Power PowerPad Lamps or the outdoor spray. Also ant spray. Has anyone experience a ant problem on the farm? I was wondering if I should buy a few cans just in case. the Off Lantern says it is better than cintranella candels... also on the website there is a buy one get one free printable coupon..

I never once saw a single mosquito the entirety of 07, and I don't recall seeing an ant either but i'm sure one or two was crawling around. I'd bring a bottle just in case but I doubt you'll have much to worry about

I am one of those people who attracts every bug that can sting or bite. I went in 2006 with bug spray and all kinds of Citronella and didn't need to use it. I didn't even bother taking any last year. There are spiders but they pretty much keep out of your way, but I haven't really seen any other bugs.
Just after '05, when packing up to leave from a post 'Roo hotel in Nashville, I opened up my friend's car to find it INFESTED with ants. I'm talking Discovery channel infestation, crawling EVERYWHERE and covering EVERYTHING.
Apparently, in his haste to leave the festie, my friend had forgotten to shake out his tent's ground pad.
1 Insect bomb later and we were on our way... Albeit with the windows down all the way back to NY.
Yeah, I see ground crawlies sometimes, but never any mosquitoes. You have to remember they feed usually on specific prey, and there is not a large enough population in the farm area to support enough mosquitoes to bother 80,000 people.

Our first year, we brought bug spray-- but never needed it. I'm not bringing anyt his year. I don't think a single mosquito bothered me. Ants either, I don't remember them being around too much. Maybe I was just oblivious though.
I think they spray for them before the event. Then again, there really aren't many mosquitoes in Tennessee anyway. Anyone who thinks there are has never lived in Florida.
Ants will (possibly) be present, but they're not of the fire variety. They're the harmless little black ants, just keep your campsite clean and they'll find their food elsewhere.

We had some of that bull frog brand mosquito spray/sun block, but the mosquito spray wasn't really necessary. I don't remember a single mosquito, but I did see the occasional ants.

We were out in BFE last year and had to use the bug spray on the first day to keep the spiders and whatnot away, but once there was more traffic the bugs kind of ran off. I imagine 80,000 people kind of scare the bugs away.
Yea, totally didn't have a problem with bugs. I figured the ants would get us for sure, because somewhere between our car and tent only, our bottle of honey was crushed and got everywhere. If that didn't draw every ant for 10 counties nothing will.
No one has said anything about ants or mosquitoes. let me know your thoughts!
I've been to 6 'Roos and I have seen 3 mosquitos in all of those years and I think we brought them with us . As far as ants go, they will take over your tent, RV, etc. They love drunk stonies who spill beer, mayo, sauce etc. The best way to eliminate an ant takeover is Windex! Kills ants and cleans up at the same time! We discovered this nifty method in '05 by accident (or necessity)...
