Today is the 55th Anniversary of the 1st summitting of Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. An amazing feat with the gear they had at that time.

Wow. Only 55 years ago. Seems like someone would have done that before then. Never had any desire to climb a snow covered mountain. Don't like being too cold. Love to snowmobile, though.
Let's not forget Tenzing Norgay, the sherpa who went up with him, and had been involved in 5 or 6 other expeditions well before Edmund came on the scene.

Definitely not forgotten. Both were great guys who spent their lives and notariety helping the Sherpa people.
