So does anyone know what the average size is for GA camping areas? We were in the RV area last year, so I have no idea how much space we can sort of count on having.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

We just took up about a car size space but this year we got a bigger shade tent so we will take up a little more but as long as you share your shade and aren't taking up a huge amount of room I don't think they are really strict.

I bought a 15' x 15' shade tent, I'm planning on putting my other tent under it to keep things cool while I sleep. What is the best way of securing a large enough space? Should I just hop out and set it up real quick? I'd be so mad if I can't use the shade tent as I spent about 70 dollars on it.

I too am concerned about appearing rude or greedy but would like to "set off" an area befitting my sleep tent and shade tent. Is it kosher to ask your neighbor to park a little further away? Its gonna take a mad amount of energy and time to set this stuff up!

I've never been in tent city, but I'm thinking as long as you're cool about and ask permission to take up some more room, it should be cool. I'm sure it will also help if you share some shade, or other "goodies" you may have.
In Tent Only you can take whatever space you need. If you camp at your car you get whatever is available. Best to set up ASAP and claim your space. Just don't be greedy.
A 15x15 should be fine. Even if you shade is too big, as long as you're willing to share where you overlap, everyone will be happy.
when they park you, park a little wide, maybe add a slight slant to you park job, but dont be greedy. They are in the process of parking thousands of cars at the same time so they wont say much if you "double park" a little.
The folks who parked next to us were greedy last year. It was a good thing we had planned on hauling our cookies to tent only, cause by the time we got out of our car...they had our space.

When we went to gathering of the vibes last summer we got owned and someone grabbed our space. We ended up moving to another location which had some room. The shade tent is rather larger but I think if we park wide enough no one should even notice.. That is unless we get shoved in between two cars, then things may get somewhat cramped. The more I think about it tho.. who wouldn't want a huge shade tent next to them? I'm so pumped for my first roo!!
I have never had a problem with space. We just usually try to park wide so that we and the people next to us all have enough room. It didnt hurt that the guy to our right parked and disappeared and never set anything up.
