Hey guys I'd really appreciate everyone's opinion on this. I'm strapped for cash (like pretty much everyone), and I've come across 6 or more really good deals on Craigslist for tickets to Roo.
So has anyone ever dealt with anyone on Craigslist before? I was planning on doing paypal or an insured money order, but I would be devastated if I got ripped off.
you can get your money back on Paypal if you do not get your merch. you can file a case, it takes about a few days but it is safe. I would just see if you could meet up in a public place and trade off there.

Well, pretty much all the ticket deals I found are in other states, so I definitely couldn't do a meet up.
But, I'll probably go through PayPal now for sure now that I know it's insured. I would hope though that anyone selling tickets to Bonnaroo wouldn't try to do a one-up on someone, but you never know how some people really are I guess.

Most people selling tickets on ebay or craigslist are people that have had last minute cancellations and are just trying to get a few bucks back from it. Just pay attention to details... such as if they say they've had the ticket for a week you know they're bullin' ya.
whatever you do, dont' send through a moneygram or transfer like that. My friend lost over $1000 on a craigslist scam recently that way.
ive never had a problem with craigslist, but then again I've always done face to face meetings... got my cat on craigslist. got my bf's car on it too, among other thing
if you cannot meet up, be careful. if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Try to get a picture of the ticket, talk to the seller on the phone, etc. You more than likely won't have a problem with bonnaroo tickets, but it's better to take a little time to investigate. If my friend did a google search first, she would have found out that it was a scam in about 5 minutes and wouldnt have lost all her money.

My friend got a ticket 4 days before Roo last year on Craigslist - GREAT deal - only 185 dollars. Dude didn't even ask to make his money back. Anyway - she got it locally and met the guy at a coffee place with a friend. Easy does it, good deal. Just be smart. Maybe not send your money - look close to you. There's still time to eBay - that's at least guaranteed to a point. Good luck - just use your brain!

I'll be honest, I went to sell a ticket on Craigslist, and got a few responses...this girl from Miami wanted to buy my ticket for a friend who was going...she tried to talk me down by like $50 off my price and then wanted to meet up late Wed. night and pay/pick it up. I said o.k. but wasn't real happy with the situation because my group wanted to leave early Wed. About a week out I had a friend offer to pay full price and I wouldn't have to do some hectic meetup late wed. I called the girl and explained my situation to her...she was pissed but there was plenty of time to line up another ticket. I felt bad but there were plenty of other people selling tickets on there so I knew it wouldn't ruin the trip.
I guess my point is don't by a ticket off Craigslist if I'm selling it ;D

Today I was reading all the peoples reasons why they bailed on Bonnaroo tickets on ebay. Tickets arent hard to find. Theres alot of people who couldnt make it. Time is the only factor now
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bonnaroo is less than a week away and many music fans are scrambling to pick up their tickets.
But people who want to go to the multistage camping festival should be careful before they buy their ticket from a stranger.
Tickets sell for more than $200 and many people are scanning listservs and Web sites for bargains.
But scam artists are selling fake tickets to the music and arts festival in Manchester, which is about 60 miles south of Nashville.
"I've never been. It's my first time. I can only imagine how fun it'll be," said Zach Ross.
Ross searched for Bonnaroo tickets for his wife.
"It was for my wife's birthday. She's been wanting to go for several years," he said.
He answered an ad on Craigslist, a site where people post ads for services, roommates, furniture sales, etc.
Ross agreed to buy two tickets for $350.
"He seemed like a nice guy," Ross said
The men met at a Nashville fast-food restaurant to make the deal.
"He had this elaborate story about how he's security for the event and how he got them early and they gave him printable tickets," Ross said.
But Bonnaroo doesn't sell printable tickets.
"I purchased the tickets, went home, didn't have a good feeling, went back online and found a listing for bogus tickets," he said. "He did a little cutting and pasting there."
Several other people in Middle Tennessee have also been scammed by the same person who tried to make the tickets appear legitimate.
"It's from Olympic Security Personnel. He said he worked for them," Ross said.
Metro police are investigating the case. With less than a week to the start of Bonnaroo, Ross is looking for a plan B.
"I'm disappointed, very disappointed. It was for my wife's birthday. It was a gift," he said.
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a top-grossing event that started in 2002. It is recognized as one of the largest music festivals in the country. It attracts more than 80,000 people and features a diverse lineup of artists.
Tickets are still available. They are priced at three levels. Visit the festival's Web site for more information.
Ebay is much more secure than craigslist. I recommend either though as long as your use paypal or can meet the person locally. You should know what a ticket looks like since you can find pictures of them on this board. With paypal, you get a money back guarantee but only up to $500, if you don't receive your merchandise or receive faulty merchandise.
Here's a hint on how to find tickets on craigslist. Go to www.google.com type in bonnaroo site:craigslist.org this will pull up all the ads on all different cities of craigslist, you can sort through them and find some close enough to you, or find people willing to ship. Keep in mind this brings up any ad that says "bonnaroo" in it, so it might not be tickets sales, so you could search bonnaroo tickets, but remember some people call them "pass" or "tix" and you can try misspelling "bonaroo" and find a hidden deal.
