So I just got one of these backpacking stoves in the mail. I'm bringing my old mess kit (boy scouts for life) and I'll be cooking up some of the following: Eggs with ham/salami and veggies Bacon Soup Ramen
Does anyone have experience with these stoves? (camping gaz twister 270) I assume I could roast hot dogs and such with it, but I'm not sure. Also, anyone know of any easy meals I can make with or without this stove at roo?
try grilled ham and cheese, gourmet pb and j (with nuts and banana), Mini quesadillas are great as well with what ever you want in them, veggies, different cheeses, pregrilled chicken, crab etc. All easy to do and keep at a camp site.

Straight peanut butter. My food this year is going to consist of pb, bagels, nanners, and poptarts, and maybe a protein bar a day. The rest will be bought/mooched. This plan carefully scultped from two previous bonnaroos. Seriously though, peanut butter is easy to choke down and a great source of calories and healthy fats.
I don't even think our group will be bringing any kind of cookware just to make life a bit easier ... Instead, I plan on bringing two loafs of bread, 12 cans of Tuna and a jar of mayo. Oh, and some trail mix. Mix that in with $1 grill cheeses and a meal from centeroo each day & i'm set!
Beer makes a great meal. I usually have a nice stout for breakfast at roo. ;D
Guinness is a fabulous breakfast beer.
I've seen some coffee stouts, lately, as well. In bottles, rather than cans, but I thought at the time they might make interesting "hair of the dog" remedies after a bad night!

Make sure the mayo stays cold - or you might get nasty sick - which I don't think would be any fun at 'roo

vegan mayo might last a little better in the heat. no eggs to go all nasty.
Take some frozen Burritos out in the morning, place into a clear blastic baggie, place them on the dshboard of your vehicle, wait about an hour and a half and they're done.
Perfect way to let the sun do your cooking.
And they taste better than in the microwave.
I've done this the past two roos and they are perfect for lunches.

Go to any outdoors store and you will see an overwhelming selection of just-add-water backpacking meals. They are light, take up little room, and often times very delicious. Also, as an added bonus, since they're meant for backpacking they usually provide you with the necessary nutrients to keep your body running... always a good thing at the Roo.

I have a few of these they run the gammut of 3-7 dollars. pretty decent I've taken them a few times back packing/camping
Also beer is good too, it's liquid bread for gawds sakes lol
Last year I made some of my boyfriends grandma's famous sloppy joe in advance. We just heated it up when we wanted some. I'm sure i'll be doing the same again this year.
I'm not bringing a cooler because I'm flying in. Do you guys know if white bread will stay good in the Tennessee heat? I'm not sure because of the yeast and all that. We're going to bring mostly pre-packaged foods(granola bars,pb&j,beef jerkey). Hopefully the bread doesn't get funky though.

My boyfriend just bought this coleman kitchen thing from walmart last night.. it has a table, hooks, and a place to put your propane grill.
We're buying the essential camping foods like granola, trail mix, etc, but we're going to buy some yummy stir fry's and such so we can cook in a skillet on the grill.
We brought some last year and they were good and warm when it was chilly at night!

i got a couple rice and bean mixes that you just add water to .. seems like you can make half on our tiny one burner stove .. grilled cheese veggie burgers maybe eggs? english muffins, etc.
we are trying to be able to eat at camp in the morning.. and maybe late night munchies
