This is a dumb question and I think maybe I'm being paranoid.... Anyway, I'm renting a mini-van and plan to remove the back two rows, put a good futon cushion in and sleep in the back. I hated sleeping in the tent last few years. I read in the rental instructions that removing seats is not permitted. I hope to do so anyway and store them safely in my locked garage. Can anyone tell me if the rental companies somehow "lock" or fuse the seats into place so I can't remove. I would assume they don't, since they sell the cars pretty quickly after they reach a certain mileage. I'd hate to pick up the van on Wed night and find that I'm screwed, and the last thing I want to do is call the rental company. I tried googling this but came up empty. Can my 'roo friends give me advice. Thanks and safe travels to all next week.
I can't say for sure, but I can't believe that they would lock them down. Rental cars are rarely modifed beyond removing the cigarette lighter. Just take care putting them back in as some vans are kinda tricky to get just right.

Thanks to both of you for easing my mind. Karma to both...
I just had another thought - they really don't care if you sleep in the van, what they're probably trying to avoid is to have you use it as a truck and haul heavy or dirty stuff in it. Even if you get 'caught' I doubt they'd be any consequences.

How Troo... thanks again. That was my last worry. Now I'm free to go!
