I'm really hoping not... I'm not doing VIP, but this is the only tent I could get a hold of, and I just started setting it up, and it's definitely not within the supposed 10'x10' restriction.
Think i could pass it off anyways? Or do I need to find another tent?
At 10' x 12', it's freaking huge. We're not expecting a problem seeing as in the years before we had three tents and a 10'x10' easy up with no problem in terms of space.
Just need to do a little "Tennessee Land Grab" as soon as you bail out of the car. And, be friendly with the neighbors, that's all it takes.
Please do not take offense to what I'm about to say, plus, I've said it before on here, so if you've heard it before, just ignore me.
The reason I go VIP is because when I went to my first Roo in 2005, although we knew to "land grab", we weren't as fast as our neighbors. Please understand that we all bought tickets and we all want to be comfortable, but by grabbing more than your fair share, you are hurting your neighbors. I have no doubt that you guys will be genuinely nice to your neighbors and make sure they have enough room for their own camp, but ours weren't. If it weren't for one set of neighbors giving up and moving somewhere else, we would have had NOWHERE to set up our one measly tent. That's all ... carry on.
You guys just made me feel a LOT better. Even ticktrix.
See, we have this tent... and a pavilion thingy, and a small grill, and some other things. The current plan is: set up the tent, then ask the neighbors if they want to split the pavilion between our two sites. If not, and there's room, we use the pavilion to cover the tent, and the very front of our site, so we have a small shaded area right at the entrance to the tent.
Hopefully, though, our neighbors will be cool and we can all share our nice pavilion
If your neighbors don't already have more shade than sense....they will jump at the chance to share the pavillion!! There is NO such thing as TOO MUCH SHADE at Bonnaroo!!

What she said. And the larger the shaded space the better. Don't wanna have to move your chairs every ten minutes to stay under that little square of shade.
Unless they're total d-bags, or fools, they'll probably wanna share. And there you have it: your new friends for four days.

Probably should have added that we have a couple of vehicles, so this will be spread over a few sites. Definitely don't want to usurp someone else's land, but, on the same token, don't want to have them usurp ours either. We're not pulling any eminent domain stunts... ;D
