Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
We are four people arriving at two different times. Two are driving in together, and the other two are taking the shuttle from the airport. Can we use both parking passes when we drive in? One for our car, and one to save the spot for our friends arriving a bit later in the day? We would be setting up their camp ( nice of us huh?) but we don't know if we can do this. If we have both passes in our possession can't we use them for two spots even if there is one car? Also, do they have to give the parking pass up at the airport when they get their tickets?
We are in the same situation. I am not sure this has ever been addressed. You will find the VIP spaces are huge and may not need additional space unless you are setting up some sort of mega camp!
This seems to be a good question to email the bonnaroo folks about. This is the closest they get to answering the question on the festival website:
"Everyone entering through the VIP entrance will be required to have their own VIP ticket & wristband and a VIP parking pass for the vehicle. (VIP wristband will be received upon check-in.) No one without a VIP wristband will be allowed to enter the VIP entrance, even if they have a VIP parking pass."
So, no getting in without a wristband or a parking pass for your car, but no idea what happens if you're walking in with a just a wristband. The general rule is that you can't save spaces and need to arrive together, but if you have two parking passes on you when you try to save it (and aren't expecting another car), that might change things. I'd definitely email, get an official answer and bring a copy of the email with me (if they say it's okay).
I did email them and got an auto response. So no answer at all.
I think we will take their parking pass and try to save the spot. The pictures we saw of VIP last year were like 15 x 30, not the 20 x 50 that we thought they were. If they are the larger size, no problem, but we have a mini van, a 12 x 12 EZ up and two tents. There is not enough room in the smaller spot.
Technically it is four people just not arriving together. And we will have two parking passes, so I don't know why we can't have the two spaces. We don't want to take more than what we paid for! It would just make it easier for us.
Also, they do want people to carpool, so why would you be penalized for doing so? So the people going with four people in a car get two spaces too. Well, I would think!
The other thing is that folks from the shuttle and in VIP need to be able to claim a spot without a vehicle. So you wouldn't think that a vehicle is necessary to claim a spot. But two people in one car trying to claim two spots with two parking passes sounds like a hard sell. One additional person in your car would make it easier, if you catch my drift. Maybe you could "borrow" someone from another VIP vehicle? In my mind, you shouldn't have to. Two passes, two spaces. But having only two people looks...weird.
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo. Unfortunately, camping spaces are allotted per vehicle, not per person. If you arrive with one car, then you will receive only one camping space. I apologize for any inconvenience.
In years past they have been very easy going in VIP. You should ask the person directing the parking and they may let you do it anyway. If that does not work people have moved around on their own to other spots without being hassled. Who knows you may even be able to find a way to convince your neighbors to move to another spot.

OK, so back where I started!!
But that doesn't make any sense! What about people who arrive on the shuttle with a VIP ticket? Is there a tent-only in VIP? I mean, maybe there is and I just never saw it. But I always presumed if you arrived on the shuttle with a VIP ticket you'd have a nice massive space, just like everyone else. Hey, you paid for the spot!

What he says. The personnel directing traffic in VIP were so disorganized/overwhelmed last year, that I seriously doubt you will encounter any resistance from anyone there. I recommend getting there right when they open on Thursday (although last year that meant you waited in much longer lines to get in), then just pull into a mostly-empty "street," and immediately start setting up tents/EZ-up in the space next to yours. If you do it right away, I can't imagine that anyone will whine about it. Many could assume that you're holding the spot until a friend with a car comes along. By Friday, it shouldn't be an issue.

Im think well be ok , there are 4 of us taking our van. The other two guys have a vip ticket and parking pass , they wanted to camp next to us. So since we are arriving together and have 2 sets of vip tix we will 2 side by side sites right ?

Sort of. Just pay attention to how they're parking people. Last year, car number 1 pulled forward into a space, allowing a camping area in front of the car. Car number 2 pulled up to the bumper of car number 1 and camped behind their car. Or, at least, that's how it worked in the row I was in. Since you want your folks to be beside you, have them hop out of the car and immediately stand in the next space to be filled beside you. 'Cause that would be car number 3's space, otherwise.
