Hi folks! I didn't really see anything mentioning these shorts anywhere, so I thought I would fill you all in. I have tried everything to help prevent the inner thigh chafing while at the roo. Gold bond, baby powder, Vaseline, going comando...
The gold bond and Vaseline seemed to work okay, but unless I wanted to spend half the day back in the potties re-applying it, I needed another solution.
A good old google search lead me to "compression shorts". Apparently they draw moisture from the body to help prevent chafing and you wear them under your clothes. They are really light weight too. I went to my local sporting goods store today and picked up a pair on my lunch break and I figured I would test them out for the rest of the day. They are AMAZING!! I didn't chafe at all and usually about 30 minutes after being outside in the heat the chafing begins. It has been about 4 hours since I put them on and no pain at all!!
So I highly recommend you splurge $25 on a pair of these (mine are under armour brand) if you have problems with chafing ruining your roo experience (such as many of mine have been). Although I have not actually tested them at roo, I do live in Tennessee and it is about 90 here today and I have been out in the heat for most of it and so far they are flawless!
Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream

Are they tight and stretchy though? My junk hates when I wear tight and stretchy.
I was wondering the same thing. My husband wears them when he works out and he hates to be constricted in that area as well. He said they are a little constricting at first but they seem to stretch out a bit and git a bit more comefortable as you wear them. He told me he would rather have is junk constricted than be chafing all day.
I think we have touched on this subject before - but not sure which thread - it has long since been buried - thanks for bringing this to light again!!!
Girls (and guys) bike shorts under your skirts are great! they prevent chafing and allow you to sit, kneel and crouch without giving a show to everyone around you
Be sure that the description mentions "wicking." You want those suckers drawing moisture away from your body so that it can evaporate. Otherwise, they can be total sweat boxes. Worth it to spend a little extra to get the magical space age material that keeps you cool, comfy and chafe-free.
The boxer jock aren't as tight and constricting as the actual compression short that I use for running. They are lighter and more comfortable! $20 bucks a pair but they are worth it!

I got some cheapo ones that wicked at Kmart last year int he ladies athletic department - they were $9.99 and my savior at Roo, and the entire rest of the summer. I plan on bringing them back again this year!
And it is great, plop on the ground and you don't give everyone a free show. This fall I was at the MD Ren Fest and I sat down in a dress with my shorts and a guy came over, tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, "miss, we can see up your dress." I said, "oh, you like my bike shorts?" and flipped up the skirt. The guys on the other side of the beer garden almost passed out, then realized all they got was a show of black lycra. Boo.

LMAO LMAO LMAO - I would have like to have been a fly on the wall to see that
How many wears can you get out of these? Obviously you can't wash anything so thats out. I thought the bacteria from sweat is what helps cause chaffing, or in my case those nasty red bumps that really suck. These don't trap sweat or anything?

I've got a pair of the UA heat gear compression shorts that I'll be bringing. One of the whole points of these is that they transfer sweat to the outside rather than trapping it. I'll also have a small wash basin and a clothes line to get multiple (daytime) wears out of them.... You could always give them a rinse off anywhere and hang them in he sun on your tent or whatever, too. For running and camping they are essential IMHO. +1 to the OP

I just bought 2 pairs of the NikeDRY shorts. I usually don't like anything constricting, but with these, they seem to make a nice little pouch for your 'equipment.' Wicking and rather comfortable as well.
Also, I picked up a this thing called "Body Glide," it's a stick that looks like deodorant that is supposed to prevent chafing. Never tried it before, so, we'll see how that and the shorts go.
I have both the UA boxer jock and the compression - and I must say - compression is nicer. I tested them out in a high heat situation yesterday and compression performed much better. I think boxer jock will keep the chafing away - but compression provides more comfort by keeping your 'area' from becoming a high humidity zone... Boxer Jock does give the boys more room to breathe... I'm bringing all of them!!!
I've been pretty pleased with the C9 Champion shorts from Target. They're like $10 apiece. I use them year-round at the gym, so I'll just bring one for each day. That plus Gold Bond is a winning combination!
Under Armor boxer jox are awesome. I work in a warehouse and it usually hits 90-100 with 55-65 humidity and they have never had me chafe. I love them so much I have 8 pairs and my lady will be picking me up some more.
Got a weird question about compression shorts! Bought a pair, used it for 3 hour soccer practice. They felt great, but towards the end of the practice, I felt a chafing in my...how do I put this? my rear end area. Seems the shorts were compressing my ass cheeks together & caused major discomfort. Help...what to do? Did I buy them too small or what?

I didnt like the idea of constriction either so I decided to wrap bandages around both legs to help prevent chaffing, just a thing but sturdy layer is all I needed and I was set without being constrained
