First of all, I have to say thanks to everyone on here for all of the great info and tips I've read over the past few months. On Saturday, Levon Helm is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 in the other tent. Pearl Jam is my catalyst for finally making the trip from here in Philly down to the festival, but I've fell in love with Dirt Farmer and I have to see his set. Is there any chance in hell I'll be able to make it from the other tent to the What Stage and get a somewhat decent spot to see Pearl Jam? This is really the only scheduling conflict I have encountered in my planning for what shows I want to see. I guess my basic question is how hard is it to secure a relatively good spot to a big show like this? Thanks a lot, and I'll see everyone next week!
You can easily get up halfway into the crowd, especially coming from the side...but the crowd is very large. There are giant video screens on each side of the stage that help you see from far away, though.
It all depends on what you are willing to sacrifice. Yes, you should be able to catch both sets. The catch is that you will have to settle for not being very close to the stage for Pearl Jam. Like Sköldpadda mentioned, there are video screens that make most any spot acceptable and sound won't be an issue.
You also may want to get near the back by the end of Levon to ensure an easy exit on your trek to What Stage. (It may take 15-20 minutes during "rush hour" -- though it'll still be flowing better than the rush back into Centeroo afterwards for the late night sets!)

will it really be that hard to see Levons full set and get a good spot? levon ends at 8:30 and thats in the middle of Jack/Kanye so i thought i would be able to get a good spot if i just caught the end of jacks set when Levon was done
No, it won't be that hard to get out of Levon. I plan on seeing the whole set, too. It won't be a big deal. I mean, you won't be getting up close to the main stage, but you'll be able to see the screens fine, and be close enough to where the band doesn't look like miniatures.
Plus, remember, ticket sales are down this year. Won't be as crowded.
If you get some good breaks, you may even be able to get up near the front. I happened to find a lane during Radiohead and made my way pretty close to the stage without being a dick.
BTW, An Open Plea To All Rooers: Please, please, please don't be that person that feels it is cool to push your way through the crowd to get a good spot, though. Either do your time by waiting or be patient and see if an opportunity opens up for you! That is all.

I like being farther back for the big sets...it seems that more room allows for a much weirder scene...people have more room to get down and let loose. Just my personal opinion.
If it is important for you to see those other people and get close to the stage for the PJ set, walk along the back of the What Stage area to the far side of the stage, you can walk up WAY farther on the stage right/audience left side of the stage and then just move in towards the center once you get as far up as you can.
cdevaney - no one should be that ass who pushes to the front!!! Put in your time at that stage if being close is a priority to you.

First, shhhhh, sneaking up on audience left/stage right is my move! jk
Second, unfortunately, I see some people doing this a few times a day at every show. I'm too 'live and let live' to get all confrontational about it but it really does tick me off when people are so disrespectful. I like to think that those are the people you see pulled over on the way home...
