We're playing on leaving Wednesday night... what time should we get in line to go in if we want to avoid BFE? I've heard getting there too early will screw you?
I am wondering this also - we've gotten there mid day and ended up in BFE....the other year we got there later, and we ended up in the farthest edge of bfe by the fence and some shack with an 8 dollar to take a shower in theirs (?eeww?) sign! We are coming from Minnesota, and will get to Nashville around 3am on Wed. morn., and plan to hit up some grub and chill at a diner and then get in line early. Will this option screw us really? If someone knows how it really works, please enlighten us!!! PLEASE!!!
You don't want to take the Bushy Branch exit, for me it's the first one you see with all the temporary signs around it pointing to "GET OFF HERE FOR BONNAROO!!!" it's tempting, but it's just a trap to send you straight to BFE. If you're driving west on 24, take the exit just past that, I can't remember the number.
If your coming from florida/georiga (i75-i24) just stay on i24 and enter through the i24 entrance. People think they are smart by getting off of i24, but really they just get the crapola parking lot.
BTW, arrival time really means jack. I got in line at about 6:45am when the sun was up and it was hot.
My car was waved by the police officer to go up the exit ramp (to BFE), but I just kept driving straight... Then we were waived by the Tennessee ATF to be searched while entering the site, but I said "fuck that" and just got in line.
The last three years I've arrived around 1:30 Wednesday morning and have been in virtually the same spot in James Bond camping. While it may not be the most convenient location, it's not terrible and they've done a lot to improve that walk, including a shortcut through VIP into What Stage and showers.
For me, it's not the end of the world -- I'm happy to get in and get set up while it's still dark and cool out (I still have traumatic flashbacks of setting up in the middle of the day under what seemed like 200 degree sunny skies at Woodstock 99!) and it kind feels like home now.
So that's my plan, sacrifice the chance of being really near Centeroo to avoid waiting in line and setting up in the sun. (Not to mention the fact that there are no guarantees that you'll end up with a good spot in spite of following all the rules about when to show up.) Worst comes to worst, I'll haul my stuff up to Tent Only!!!!
