Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Alright, so I'm a first-time Roo'er and first time festival camper (only been to Lollapalooza before). I know there's plenty of threads to get information on what to bring, but I want dissenting opinions on certain items. There are a few items that I have heard mixed reviews on, and I want to hear arguments before I do a last minute run to Walmart/Grocery Store/Camping Store.
Here are the items: You can either reply yay or nay to each item, or give an explanation. Either will help to an extent.
- Battery Operated Tent Fan (What's a good size? Does it really help?)
- Crocs (or fake Crocs from Walmart for 5 bucks) (on another note, would it be bad to wear a pair of shoes like these for the first time having never worn them before)
- Solar Shower
Those are my first few items... I might have a few more in a minute or too. If you have any items to rate, feel free to post them. If not, thanks in advance for the help.
yay on any sort of fan, you will need it in the morning to get a few extra hours of sleep
yay on Crocs, but get the real thing. I have one pair and have worn them everyday since I got them. God invented Crocs because he loves our feet. The think I like most is when they get dirty, I just take them in the shower with me and rise them off.
indifferent on the solar shower. I have never used one, but they do look a bit flimsy and are pretty expensive. At Bonnaroo you can either take a baby wipe shower or pay for the real thing. I think a shower is $5-10. If I already owned one I would bring it along.
lastly be ready for the heat and humidity. I have been trying to do activities outdoors this past week in order to get used to the heat. It will be nearly one week with out a/c.
i see where crocs is a bonnaroo partner this year and will be selling them there...anyone buy crocs at roo last year and were they discounted or would i be better off to just buy them before i come?
tent fan-yay 100% they are lifesavers crocs-yay, I have fake ones and they are definitely coming with me. totally made last year tolerable shower-eh, indifferent. have had one and not had one and could really care less, the pay showers aren't bad

tent fan - NAY, we bought a coleman combo light/fan for the tent in '06. this thing did absolutely nothing. you could hold it in front of your face and it just didn't blow. waste of 20 bucks or whatever it was.
crocs - i don't know i have never had any. i wear my nike shocks at the roo and they work great. they are still comfy without socks.
shower - nay for me. not worth all the hassle. i just take a cup and the old spice hair and body wash to the water station.
Tent Fan - Yes - at least it keeps the air moving.
Althought you didn't ask, I would also say Yah to extra TP and a good flashlight for late night port-a-potty runs. You'll thank me.
Why thank you. I have both of those downstairs packed away already. I have been reading all of your threads and compiling a list, so thank you to everyone who has posted on "That Tent." These are the main items I see on a few lists, but I've also heard negative remarks regarding them.
I guess I will be buying Crocs, unless someone does confirm that they were cheaper at the Roo last year.
Alright, another item to add to the list.
- Eggs (How well do they keep? Difficult to handle? Great breakfast item?)
I have a propane camp-grill, and I can throw aluminum foil on it to create a makeshift griddle/stove. So I have a way to cook them, just wondering if they're worth it.
And I guess a bonus question while I'm at it... what are other good and fast items to use on a grill/stove? I am getting brats so far, but I can't think of anything else really (I can't imagine fish keeping well, and I don't want hamburgers or steaks).
Eggs: Do ya like em scrambled? Before you leave home, get about a dozen and break em all up. Beat very well and pour into about 3 small water bottles. Freeze them and you'll have ready to scramble eggs all weekend.

as far as food to cook on the grill... cut up a whole bunch of veggies (potatoes, carrots, onions etc) and wrap them in alum foil. throw the packet on the grill for awhile. when you are ready to eat open it up, add salt and pepper to taste and voila! very easy especially if you prep them before you leave.
