Me and the bro will have some time to kill before our flight at 5:30pm..........any suggestions for folks who have never been to the city? Nothing too major as time will not permit, but I was thinking of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the likes. Anyone have any suggestions of places? Also, how far are these places from the airport?
I hear the country music hall of fame is pretty neat. it's a little pricey but it's something that is good to see once in your life. I've never actually been but i wouldn't mind going sometime.
There are 2 waterparks in nashville. They might feel pretty good after 4 days of bonnaroo. They're both very close to the airport and it shouldn't be busy at all on a Monday.
Downtown and the Lower Broadway area is always worth checking out if you've never been to Nashville. Very touristy and cheesy, but you have to appreciate it in that way. The Country Music HoF is down there as well, but I haven't been there in years. Go to the Ryman and get a tour... a great place to see if you're interested in the musical history of Nashville. All of these places are within walking distance of each other. I've also seen trolley tours around lately... not sure where they pick up/drop off, but they come by my apartment daily.
The airport is about 5-15 minutes away from downtown, depending on how your cabbie drives (!)
There's always the Grand Ole Opry and the Opry Mills mall to check out, too. It's not downtown, it's actually a bit closer to the airport. The mall is large, but it's also just a mall. There are a few cool places to check out, like the Gibson guitar showcase, but to me, the mall is nothing terribly special.
