Since I canot get the search feature to work for the life of me, this might be a repost. I was just curious what kind of food we can expect in the VIP lunch and dinner buffets?
It's really pretty decent! Mind you, I'll eat anything. Someone with a vegetarian outlook ought to speak to that, if it's a concern for you. I'd put it at the level of general cafeteria or hotel food. Salad was available at all meals. There were a few lines stocked with identical foods, for each meal. Sort of casserole chicken meals. Sometimes a meat (like chicken or fish, like a regular white fish) with side vegetables. I seem to remember jambalaya for one meal entree option. As I recall, there were generally at least a couple of entree options. I only remember one lunch being of the hamburger variety (so don't worry that they'll try to feed you hot dogs and hamburgers for every meal; they definitely didn't last year). They generally have fresh fruit or other portable snacks sitting out, like peanut butter/cracker packets or chips. Nice to toss in your backpack on the way out. They have cold water, soft drinks and beer on sale there (theoretically for a cheaper price than in Centeroo). I was pleasantly surprised. The food wasn't gourmet, but it didn't suck, either.
BTW, if it's like last year, remember that the first available meal on Thursday is 6:30 p.m. for dinner. NO lunch provided on Thursday. No food at all until dinner. Plan accordingly!
We were disappointed with the food last year, esp after the entering-the-festival debacle. I'm a vegetarian so I had more trouble with the food they served than my husband, who is not vegetarian and seemed to eat fairly well all weekend. The Roo folks have got to realize that serving salad at every meal does not necessarily make the offering vegetarian-friendly. Also seemed like lots of corn-based side dishes (actual corn, not the inforoo kind) which got real old real fast. We may have always hit at peak hours too, but it seemed like they were constantly running out of everything and we had to wait for the chafing dishes to be refilled at almost every meal. I'm definitely hoping for something better this year, although we tend to round out our Roo food pretty well with grilled cheese at the campsite and whatever sounds good in centeroo...

honestly, last year, the food in VIP left A LOT to be desired. Not only was there never enough food (they ran out every 15 minutes and you had to wait another 15-30 minutes for another food run) but the food that was there was what I would call less that college dorm dining commons food. I actually thought that the one time they served hamburgers and hot dogs was the best meal they had all weekend. The lack of quality food at the VIP buffet and the plentiful amount of quality food available elsewhere around the festival grounds is the main reason I am not going VIP again this year. However, the no search entrance is a GREAT THING.
