So I just packed the pod on top of my car and tested out the packing situation and all is well. Well, it was. Then I was driving around and I hear this clicking. It happens when I take off and when reverse. It also happens when I shift from D to R or R to D. It does not happen when I'm driving, only taking off and sometimes when stopping.
Since it apparently just started (I assume) I'm guessing it's pod related and coming from on top.
If it's coming from on top, it's likely the pod is sliding around and needs to be attched better. Or if it isn't packed tightly, something might be sliding back and forth inside the pod.
If it's not coming from on top it could be lots of things depending on what part of the car it's coming from.

No its coming from the front under the hood maybe driver side it sounds like, it's definitely not the pod. the pod is actually a big cloth bag and it's tied down beefy because my father did it for me.
Okay, I was thinking of one of those plastic pods on your roof. Wish it was only that.
Could be in the transmission since it happens when you start and shift. But if your tranny isn't slipping and is shifting okay then maybe it's not that or it's not too serious (yet).
It still seems to me likely that something is slipping/rolling back and forth somewhere. Does it sound like that to you?
If so it could be something in the vents rolling around or something loose under the hood.
Of course it could be brake calipers sticking and popping out when you start also.
It's very hard to diagnose over the internet. If your car is running well otherwise and the gauges are showing normal, I would likely drive it but keep an I eye on things. Check the fluids (oil, brakes, transmission, coolant) when you stop for gas and keep an eye on the gauges, just in case. And bring a credit card if something really goes wrong.
Wish I could be of more help, bro. You could always take it to a shop and ask them, assuming you have the money. Sorry again.
MY guess would be a neutral safety switch, it is shorting out because of the extra weight. Just a guess what is the model and make of your car and automatic or manual. The neutral safety switch is a little sensor on your transmission, that determines whether you are in park or neutral.
^^^I was reading through this and was about to post that it sounded like what my Ford Escort did and in that case it was the axel - yay - me - I am a female and I actually understood a clicking noise
Glad it was something easy to fix. Never would have guessed axel (or at least it would be way down the list) Next time just PM Meg. She's good at everything.
