"...but his move was not expected to go anywhere."
Ain't that just Kucinich? The guy says something and nobody listens because he looks like a hobbit and is farther left than a Berkley hackeysack. Honestly though, what's the point? Impeach doesn't necessarily mean taken out of office. Clinton was impeached in the later part of his term and still served as president until the end. And even if Bush was removed as president, then what? Cheney, that's what. Fun. I see where he's coming from...if a president can be impeached for lying about a blowjob then a president should most definitely be able to be impeached for misleading the country into a war, but honestly it ain't gonna happen. Besides, there's only slightly over six months left, and who wants to remember Cheney as the short lived 44th president?

ha. this just made me spew some coffee. But it almost hurt to see how blunt and ridiculous it is...

I've been rooting for Cheney to be the first ever to invoke the 4th clause of the 25th Amendment. Think of it as impeachment from within the executive branch... Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.
Bush/Cheney should certainly be impeached. Impeachment is not just to get rid of the Prez but to publicly punish him; to let him know he has done something so wrong that, we the people, will no longer stand for it.
I truly believe the failure to impeach Nixon has allowed him to be redeemed by some Cons and has allowed others to state that his abuses of power are okay. bush is doing many of the same things because it was never publicly stated for the record as being WRONG.
If you truly want to hear a great case for impeachment, watch this interview with Bruce Fein (the lawyer that drafted articles of impeachment for Clinton.) He is for Bush impeachment and speaks much more eloquently that I.
It is about 30 minute but more than worth the time if you want to understand the issue.
